Second Edition of ‘The Dedicated Server Handbook’ is Released

Most of us would assume that having our own dedicated server is expensive, complex and out of the question. However the recently published second edition of The Dedicated Server Handbook (www.thededicatedserverhandbook.com) uncovers further secrets and crucial inside know-how of just how possible it is to set up your own server, and how pretty much anyone can save themselves a fortune by avoiding sky-high hosting fees.

This second edition of The Dedicated Server Handbook is a comprehensive 108 page beginner’s guide to setting up and managing your own Linux dedicated server or virtual private servers using the free Webmin open-source web-based control panel. Covering important topics such as the BIND DNS Server, the Apache Webserver, PHP and CGI scripts, MySQL Datatbase, Sendmail and Postfix mail servers the book provides all the tools and back-up resources needed to successfully accomplish your own set up. The book also shows how to side-step the normal overhead involved in setting up a dedicated server and all the various associated services.

The Dedicated Server Handbook is available as a PDF e-book, Amazon Kindle e-book or as a printed edition. Building upon the success of the first edition which was published 3 years ago this latest publication includes new topics and updates in existing technology.

As part of the package there is also a very helpful 7-part free video tutorial series to accompany the book. The videos cover configuration of the Webmin Free web-control panel, securing your online control panel, installing the DNS server, adding users and secure FTP to your server, and configuring your webserver.

The Dedicated Server Handbook is written by Issac Goldstand, a well-known and highly respected open-source developer and an evangelist of IPv6. Issac was one of the earlier participants of the World IPv6 Day held in June and will also be presenting at the open source ApacheCon 2011 conference in Vancouver this coming November.

The Dedicated Server Handbook is listed as a suggested resource on the Webmin website and is currently available for a limited introductory period for just $39.95 directly from the publisher’s website at www.thededicatedserverhandbook.com
