APB Reloaded is another game that I found on steam during their wish list giveaway. I was searching through the games and I saw what looked like Grand Theft Auto meets Saints Row meets RPG. I was interested and the best thing about the game was the fact that this game is absolutely 100% free. Steam has a few games on there that are for free. Now when I think of free games, I think of some cheesy little game that looks like it was made for the original game boy. But APB Reloaded turned out to be actually a really fun game. If you have a Steam account, you can download this game anytime on any computer and play it online. It’s a little tedious to set up because you have to leave your game and go to your web browser to create an account that is linked up with your email.
After you do that you load the game and have the option of being a criminal or a cop. I chose criminal because in my opinion it is was most fun. After that you choose what server you are going to be a part of, now make sure you get together with any of your friends because you have to before you do that since you cannot change the server you are in after you have loaded into it. Once I got into the game there were a lot of video sequences that you cannot skip. But the game was free so you can’t really complain. Once you get in the game you start off with an automatic rifle and a pistol and you’re in the same clothes as everyone else around you. And of course they start you off in a part of the map that is sectioned for new players that are criminals so you don’t run into enemies too quickly and die. So the first mission they put you on is a tagging mission where you have to go to two different spots on the map and spray up a huge Graffiti tag. You know the normal gang stuff. Also in the game you can walk up and steal anyone’s car and start causing mayhem. As your causing mayhem your notoriety goes up the more notoriety you get the higher the bounty on your head. And if the bounty gets high enough the cops will come after you except in this game the cops are a whole different team of people online so I would defiantly watch out for that.
There are many ways to cause mayhem if that is what your intensions are. Like you can walk up to any person in the game (NPC) and rob them. There is duration while you rob them for how long it takes and during that time your notoriety goes up. Then after you sock them up a few times they drop some jewelry or a cell phone and you get money for whatever they drop. Now after you finish up with the tutorial and you get a feel like you know how to work the controls, you can change to a different district in the game. I was looking at the names and the fight club district sounded the best because it was just a set up battle in an office building of cops and robbers. There are other districts and even a social district where there are no weapons and you can go trade, sell, and buy clothing, weapons, and whatever else all online with other players.
The fight club district was a lot of fun however the only problem is just starting out you don’t have any special weapons, just an automatic rifle and a pistol. While other people on the map have really powerful rifles and other weapons. Also everyone else has awesome face paint and clothes. You unlock money as you go along and do missions and kill people. Also they have a premium version to where you make more money for everything you do and I think you unlock more clothes and weapons. I mean they have to make money somewhere so of course they have the premium membership. But the game really feels like a grand theft auto type game. The only problem is that while driving a car it kind of drifts to far on all turns and constantly feels like it’s pulling to the left or the right. Although I think they are still fixing a lot of bugs and different things about the game.
The idea of the game is really awesome though and I am having a lot of fun playing this game. The only problem is how long it takes you to really make some money so you can upgrade your weapons and your clothes. That really makes you want to have a premium membership. You can also connect with your friends and find them in the game and since it is free you just need to get a bunch of friends together and all connect at the same time and have some fun. I like that Steam has a few free games that you can play and they’re actually not that bad. So if you’re looking for something that you can play that’s like grand theft auto and saints row but you don’t have money right now you should definitely play APB reloaded because it will fill your need to steal a car and blow some stuff up.
