Deus Ex Human Revolution is a prequel to the previous PC game “Deus Ex”. As I divulge further into this game, there will be some spoilers. So please stop reading if you do not want to read what happens in the game before playing it.  You start by playing as Adam Jensen who is head of security for Sarif Industries. Sarif Industries, headed by David Sarif, is paving the way into augmentations which are mechanical enhancements to humanly functions and body parts. Megan Reed, head of the research laboratory, are on the brink of discovering the ultimate formula to augmentations and are going to present their findings to Congress.Everyone is prepping up for the hearing until a freak accident occurs in the laboratory and you are instructed to figure out what it is. Soon you find out that it was a organized attacked and it is your mission throughout the game to find out who and why the attacks took place at Sarif Industries.

The game has some flashy scenes and cool graphics that are reminiscent of the MGS (Metal Gear Solid) games. As you start to play the game it seems like an ordinary fps without many changes in game-play since it follows a very linear story line after the supposed laboratory accident. However, after receiving the augmentations, the real game starts to unfold. You will find out that the game rewards you for finding different entry paths and stealthy moves instead of brute force methods. I personally liked this idea because it had elements of MGS but still told its own story. I tried to always take down enemies quietly instead of gun fights because you would gain a lot of experience easier and it was much more of a challenge. Also, experience is one of the ways, other than praxis kits, to enhance your augmentations further.

Hacking is a pretty cool feature they have added in this game in order to gain access to restricted areas. I went all out and used up my praxis points in order to master hacking and decrease capture detection. It allows you to break into safety boxes and other rooms that lead to items and enemies. You will definitely need at least up to level 3 security hacking in the beginning otherwise you won’t be able to hack into computers or doors. Finding pocket securities that have the right passcode for what you are looking for can be hard as well. Sometimes you will find a random passcode and not know where you will use it because there isn’t a marker or indicator.

I’ve beaten the game with the “Give me a Challenge” setting and it was pretty intense to say the least. The ending of the game was by far one of the best parts of the game and I think they did a really good job. There were many twists and turns in the story line and talking the villain out of killing people or killing themselves was surprisingly fun. And getting the Silver Tongue gave massive experience which is always a plus. I was never able to get all the enhancements though because I found it hard to gain enough experience. Also, buying praxis kits from the clinic were not so cheap. Overall, I think this game is a lot of fun and I am already trying to beat the game in the hardest setting and making sure I don’t miss out on any side missions. Its out on Steam for 49.99 for the regular edition and 59.99 for the augmented edition which gives you more credits and a few extra guns in the beginning.
