Kaptain BraweAre you looking for a unique game or something fun for the entire family? Well look no further. Kaptain Brawe, A Brawe New World, from Cateia Games is just the game for you. At first glance it may look like a cheesy children’s title, but is anything but. Kaptain Brawe is a very interesting game. The game harkens back to the olden days for this gamer and reminds me of a fresher “Willy Beemish” style game.

The game starts you out on your space ship where you experience a distress call, that no one else in the galaxy or universe can make in time. Being the humble captain that you are, Kaptain Brawe excepts the quest and off your are on a grand adventure.

In game you cross many crazy characters and diverse environments. From the quirky help on your ship, including a robot, all the way to Space pirates and alien scientists. Each area is well designed and lots of thought has went into how each quest unfolds and how you solve every problem that you or others may run into on your adventurer.

The Game is a side scrolling game for the most part with vividly colored characters and environments. Lots of items in the environment are interactive and can be easily accessed by a simple mouse-over. However, what each item does or is used for may not be readily apparent and may take some thought process to figure out how they work.

This is where Kaptain Brawe reminds me of the older Willy Beemish game. Willy Beemish was a classic in its own right, and Kaptain Brawe does a great job of bringing this style of game back. As you travel each individual environment, you will find certain parts or items that will help you complete a later task or even allow you to complete what should be an easy task. For example, you will need to know that you have to melt down solder(found separate) in a metal pan(found separately), and dip a radio antenna in the solder to fix a radio communicator. to find the parts you go throw at least 3 environments and have to look for each independently. Took me a while to find all the parts so for those of you who think easy right of the bat.. don’t.
Young children may have a hard time finding the correct path so it may not be for the young gamers. The story is done well and while there is some sound to game, most of the game is done through reading conversations.

The environment is hand drawn and well animated. The thought process, the quests and the every evolving story will captivate the younger crowd as well as the older gamer. Kaptain Brawe is filled with humorous storyline. Kaptain is not the “brightest bulb” in the box. HAHA The puzzles can be confusing and challenging, but after completing them you will find yourself going, “Oh that makes sense”.

There are two game play modes: Hard Core and Casual. I suggest Casual for most users. Hardcore will require some major thinking, so be ready. The game controls are truly simple, simply use he mouse for the most part to move and interact with the environments. Not everything you click serves a point in the game, but they will make you laugh.

Kaptain Brawe is a great game despite what most may think at first. Give it some time and it will draw you in. There are 3 different main characters to use, an intriguing storyline and is fun fobr the whole family. I suggest this for anyone with kids or for any gamer that loves to think.
