The long awaited Battlefield3 is finally here! I built a system specifically for Battlefield 3; a liquid cooled Intel core i5 processor, 4 GB of Ram, and an XFX Radeon 6950. I ran Battlefield 3 on the highest settings and man did it look good! I was so amped up the night before that I had already pre-downloaded the game and waited till midnight to play. It was really great to have it installed already beforehand so as soon as the clock hit 12:00 am, I was like “Game on!”
To start it off, there are lots of different aspects to this game than just a first person shooter. You can drive different vehicles, blow up almost everything, and use the terrain any way you see fit. Whether you want to hide behind objects and take it slow or just bust out like Rambo and kill the crap out of your enemies. There are a lot of different classes as well, that you can level up online for acquiring better guns and perks for your team. The Medic has the ability to heal and revive teammates. The Engineer can repair vehicles and shoot RPGs to destroy tanks, and there is also a Sniper class for taking down your units from very far distances. All of the classes are completely customizable with new weapons, sights, and gear.
As for the campaign, it is pretty challenging. There are constant changes to the battle settings that make you learn different vehicles, guns, and intense situations. You play as Sergeant Blackburn who is currently being interrogated by the government about past events. So you’re cycling through flashbacks of events that happened when he was still in the field in varying kinds of environments. In the first mission you start off on a train fighting through waves of bullets and enemies. After weaving in and out of the train you work your way towards the end of the train but suddenly get knocked out by an unknown enemy. And then you flash back to the present where you are being interrogated by the government with a serious of questions that lead to various events in the game. I’ve only played this game for a little while but every time the interrogators ask another serious of questions it starts off a different mission or memory that you go through. The government is trying to find out what really happened during Sergeant Blackburn’s missions and that is your gateway to the gameplay of the campaign mode.
This is my experience with the game so far, but I will keep you posted as I continue to play through the story. Unfortunately the campaign does not help you in unlocking any gear for the online multiplayer but do give you a thrilling story with amazing graphics. I really have to say that I love this game. I waited for a while to play it and I have always been a fan of Battlefield games since Battlefield 1942. If your thinking about buying a good first person shooter game than I would suggest looking into Battlefield 3.
