There are two pieces of equipment that every PC or Mac owner use and that is the keyboard and mouse as lets face it the new mind connected computer has yet to rear its techno head. With that said it is very important that you are comfortable and happy using them and if you are a gamer this ups the ante by another margin as now you need not only comfort, but also options and ergonomics come into play.  The comfort of the mouse you are using becomes even more important if you are the type of person who plays for hours on end as it can actually become uncomfortable to use.

Gigabyte is know for their motherboards and for their video cards, but they also carry a line of gaming peripherals that are not too shabby in any sense of the word and that is what we are looking today. The Gigabyte Aivia Krypton Dual-Chassis Gaming mouse is a unique product that offers many features including their Ghost software package for custom programming the various buttons to your exact preference. On the fly you can change the mouse from a right hander to a lefty and also custom adjust the weight of the mouse to various configurations, which is quite an interesting and unique feature of the Krypton. There are many mice that offer weight options, but not the center of gravity offered in the Krypton.

Having Hot-swappable Dual-Chassis ability is like having 2 mice in one. The speed chassis offers an abrasion free ceramic foundation, which is used to improve quick movements, immediate reaction and fast speed. The other mouse foundation is called the Control Chassis and it is geared for precision movements and maximum control and features a Teflon foundation. So basically one is slick and very fast and one is slower and smoother, I preferred the Control Chassis for my choice of foundation as I don’t like my mouse feeling like its going to slip away. Opinions will vary will vary and that is why the Krypton gives you the choices and options that it does as customization and comfort is king in the mouse world.

Like everything else on the Krypton the Laser uses an advanced sensor that supports resolutions of up to an amazing 8200dpi and is adjustable by two buttons located on the top of the mouse. With the Ghost software Macro Engine gamers can now pre-define and switch between keys or buttons depending on the game they are playing. Just by the click of a button you get the ability to scroll through 5 different gaming profiles and up ton 70 pre-programmable macros. This is feature is made possible by the built-in 32KB of memory for the gamer who uses his mouse on multiple systems and games. As far as setting up the mouse goes its very easy, just plug the gold plated USB connection into an available USB 2/3 Port, start up your system and install the drivers off the CD, its really that easy to do. After that its up to you on how intricate you want to program the mouse, it can either be a plug play and go adventure or a take your time and custom program every available button to your specifications in a game per game basis.

As far as mouse usage goes the Krypton feels good in my hand and offers an ergonomic curve so your hand does not get tired or hurt while using it for hours on end. The button placement is a love or hate affair depending on how far back or front you like them, but for me they are in a perfect place that allows me to access them without thought when playing a game, which is important because when you are deep in a Frag-Fest the last thing you need to be doing is thinking about where your control buttons are.  Comfort and control are very important to the AVID gamer and the Krypton is geared for the FPS or action genre game, those who go for the Star Craft 2 or other games that can use up to 10 or more pre-programmed buttons might want to look elsewhere, but for the average gamer this is a very solid product. You can install and use the GHOST software package that come included and this will allow you to customize the Krypton to your personal preference, its easy to setup and use and does not require a learning curve to use it.

My son who plays SC2 professionally was impressed with how well the Gigabyte Krypton responded in games like BF3 and Crysis, but when he went to play SC2 he said the lack of more programmable buttons was a hindrance to his playing style.  After playing around on the Krypton for about a week I have to say that the mouse is very comfortable and does not make my hand or wrist ache after hours of constant gaming.  To me that aspect is thee most important aspect and the Krypton passes with flying colors. Next is the accuracy of the mouse and here the Krypton never failed and having the ability to change your mouse between two different styles of user just makes the Krypton more flexible than your average mouse as well. Changing the DPI on the fly is a simple affair and depending on your tastes you have a few selections to choose from, from super fast to very slow, the choice is yours to make and change even while in the middle of a game. Making the so-called Head-Shot was made much easier by the accuracy of the mouse the responds perfectly to your reflexes and if you are already good, this will help you stay that way or just get better in games that require dead on aiming. Overall nothing to complain about with the Gigabyte Gaming Krypton mouse, it is a very nice product and worthy of our Gamers Gold Award here on Tech OF Tomorrow. Thanks for reading tech friends, your comments are always wanted and appreciated so let’s hear them folks.
