Forget 4G, Samsung Announces 5G Technology
Samsung recently announced that they have developed the very first “5G” wireless mobile technology. This technology is reported several hundred times faster than the 4G we have today. Outstanding if you consider how many people still do not have true 4G connections even to this day. At a time where most peoples mobile service is as fast if not better than the internet connection they receive at home.
Samsungs 5G technology is expected to be available by 2020 and our ultrafast 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) will now become a thing of the past. The 2020 expectation can seem like an outrageous waiting time but it is due to the fact that creating such a powerful connection that blows away 4G LTE must not be so easy.
The 5G project has hit some complications along the way of creation, some, in part because of the millimeter-wave Ka band it uses and also the amount of band frequencies it requires to operate. These frequencies don’t seem to do well when stretched over long distances due to what Samsung calls “unfavorable propagation characteristics.
Samsung experiments with many other strategies over things such as this with the use of adaptive array transceiver technology which uses 64 antenna elements to reduce the weakening strength of the signal over great distances. The transceiver broadcasts at 28GHz, much higher than the 2-8GHz accompanied by 4G signals. This signal can also reach up to 1.056 Gbps in connection speed up to a distance of two kilometers.
With this absurdly advanced technology on a mobile platform, the limitations to this generations technology will not be issue later on when we can transfer 1 gigabyte files in a single second. What do you guys think will happen or be possible with such a fast mobile service? Are you excited for what’s to come? Leave us comment and let us know!
