It doesn't damage Google, it damages Apple. By doing this, they will make Siri an irrelevant feature since both Android and iOS will now have the best voice assistant (meaning people will have one less big feature to use iOS over) Much better than leaving Now limited to Android devices IMO. It was likely a tough decision, but I think it was probably the right one. Now they can move on to other iOS features and make those irrelevant as well until iPOS (oops, I mean iOS) is just an exact (more expensive) mirror of Android with squarer icons.
