For those who love technology and especially mobile tech, you are in for a nice surprise from the folks over at HTC, as they are about to alter the landscape of display in their favor. Up until HTC released the Droid DNA a couple months back, Apple’s iPhone 5 had been the pixel density king in terms of smartphones, but now HTC is one upping the DNA with there newest flagship offering, the HTC One.

The HTC One packs a monsterous 1920 x 1080 resolution on a 4.7 Inch screen which equates to more than 2 million pixels that yields 469 pixels per inch. Take that iPhone fans. As of now that makes it the world record holder for announced/shipping consumer electronics products. There are a select few products that have come close though, as last summer saw Sharp and LG both announced a 1920X1080, 440ppi displays. The HTC Droid DNA, which we mentioned earlier, began shipping in December and was the first to ship with this technology based off a sharp screen. Sharp is making its 440ppi screens using a technology called Continuous Grain Silicon. “It has higher electron mobility than either IGZO or amorphous silicon, which allows for maximum aperture ratio/light transmission.

In comparison again Apple’s current flagship leader the iPhone 5 pales as it has only 326ppi, but what does that really mean from a real user perspective? This actually depends on how far away you view your screen as it has been stated that the proper distance for translating the 326ppi is 10.5 inches and the farther you get from that the less clear the image is. For 468ppi the proper distance to emulate 20/20 vision is 7.4 inches, which is much closer than the A-typical viewing distance for a 4.7-inch screen. This also means that the farther away you watch the screen the eyes cannot resolve the high pixel density. In a lot of situations this means that the great pixels-per-inch will be wasted, but not always. There is one area though, that having the 468ppi will make a big difference and that is with computer generated text and graphics, and this is where the technology shines. If you are a person who looks for great details and wants the absolute best clarity possible the new HTC One will now be handed over the title of Pixel Pumping King. Are you a person who uses their phone like an extension of their body and is on the go all the time making your phone thee tool of tools? Does this new technology sound like something you are looking forward to? Thanks for reading and your thoughts and opinions matter here on Tech Of Tomorrow so let us hear the please.
