Nokia recently announced their new Lumia 925 smartphone. The Lumia line is well-known for their Windows Phone loyalty and amazing camera quality. The Lumia 925 is nothing different.

The 925 is essentially a revised version of the previous with several improvements such as the new aluminum case which is a move away from the old polycarbonate shell. This is Nokia’s very first Windows Phone to come with an aluminum chassis.

Nokia has also shaved off a bit of weight, making the phone 50 grams lighter and just 8.8mm thin. The phone is rockin’ a 4.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 which is protected by Gorilla Glass 2.

The famous camera experience will be even sweeter with an 8.7-megapixel OIS camera. The camera strangely does not come with flash that is found in older Lumia phones. The 925 does some with some interesting gimmicks such as Motion Focus, Action Shot, Best Shot, and Smart Cam.

The phone is powered by a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 at 1.5GHz, 1GB of system memory and a 2,000mAh battery which was all in the last Lumia 920. The phone comes with no wireless charging due to the smaller form factor. The color have also received a change with a bland color palette of white, grey, and black.

The phone is expected to release to the public in Europe and China starting in June for around $610 dollars. The North American release is yet to be announced. I’ve always loved the Lumia line because of a their creative originality and function over form. I almost feel that this is what the original 920 should have been and that it might be a little late in the game, what do you think?

I love a lot of things about this phone. But the two things that are holding it back are the low resolution screen (it isnt bad, but it just cant compete against newly released 1080P phones) and the fact that it is exclusive to Tmobile, the nations smallest carrier. In order for Nokia to succeed, they must end their love for carrier exclusivity.
