WP Central has recently posted renderings of the Lumia 1020 alongside a complete spec sheet that seems to match up with the speculations. Nokia also seems to have toned it down a bit with the color options on the phone as the old Lumia 920 came in variously bright colors, the 1020 seems to only be rendered in yellow, white, and black.

According to the spec sheet, the Lumia 1020 will come with an unheard of, 41 megapixel sensor which is higher than any DSLR on the market at this moment. Along with all those megapixels will include an optical image stabilization feature which was first seen in the Lumia 920. The camera will be able to open up its aperature up to f/2.2 and will come with a xenon flash.

Lumia 1020 EOS

  • It has optical image stabilization (OIS) built in
  • It takes the image in a 32MP and 5MP at the same time in 16:9
  • The 5MP image is over sampled dropping 7pixels into one “super pixel”
  • It shoots 38MP in 4:3
  • “Nokia 909” was an early name for it but it will be “Lumia 1020” for release
  • 2GB of RAM, an increase of 1GB from other high end Windows Phone 8 devices
  • 32GB of internal storage, no SD
  • WP8 V 8.0.10322.71
  • FM radio (Amber)
  • Flip to silence (Amber)
  • NFC is on board
  • Optional wireless charging backplate will be available

Moving on from the hardware to software, the Lumia 1020 will allow professionally geared users to be able to change the cameras ISO, white balance, manual focus, and shutter speed to accurately capture the shooters vision. But we still can’t forget that this still is a smartphone and it does have traditional smartphone specs. The 1020 will come with a massive 2GB of RAM which will help the phone process the photos smoother and faster.

No release date has been given but it is said to be out this month. More than likely the Lumia 1020 will be announced this thursday alongside accessories such as a camera grip or various camera acessories! What do you guys think? Too many pixels? Great camera phone? Let us know if you guys are interested in this and why!

41 megapixels is outstanding, it’s great to see how far technology has come!

  • Canchume

41 megapixels camera and no sd ?

  • Connor

41 megapixels, are you serious? And in a phone too? If this is true, then that’s just amazing. But I can imagine the price tag will be equally as amazing. I can see this costing a lot more than the iPhone 5. A LOT more. I’m not convinced with the whole 41 megapixels though. I find it hard to believe a phone camera would be that technologically ahead of anything available for retail.

Funny and sad thing how people think more MegaPixels means better photo too…
MegaPixels means size people, size, its like turning up a game resolutioin up to 2K but unless you can turn up the graphic settings too, it will be pointless – No hating to nokia, the pictures are very good, it’s just the people who seem soooo amazed about the 41 MP number… -

look for nokia pure view 808 photo sample and be amazed yourself on how the 41 MP works..

If you have ever seen a nokia lumia photo, you would understand that you are wrong.

  • kemle

The “41 megapixel” there was probably just a typo. i’m guessing that it’s just “14 megapixel” cam, just my 2cents.

    • XC99TF00

its a 8+ mp shot sampled 5 times or something and then pieced together using an algorithm. Look for info on the nokia 808 for more accurate detail.

    • Ellie1321

      No, its actually 41.

Megapixels are not everything what matters for a good picture!
