The world of mobile technology keeps growing faster and faster, which means that the power and features available have to keep advancing to stay that one-step-ahead of the other guy. At this year’s CES, NVIDIA announced their new Tegra 4, claiming that it was the world’s most ass-kicking mobile processor on the market. The tests are now pouring in and showing that they weren’t lying. At the Mobile World Congress, NVIDIA showed some prototype devices running the new Tegra 4 in action, proving that it was totally the performance demon.

For those who want the next generation after the current Tegra 3 and Qualcomm S4 mobile processors, the Tegra 4 is leapfrogging over them to take the lead in the mobile market and smashing the processors in every other phone available on the market now, even Apple’s flagship A6, which is no exception to the Tegra 4. NVIDIA and their Tegra 4 have been in the works for a while now, giving them a head start on the competition although others will soon follow up with their own next-gen mobile solutions. It’s amazing that the new cell phones in 2013 have a better processor than that of the best processors in desktop systems prior to mid 2000’s when Quad-Core CPUs became the mainstay.

At this time frame, both Samsung and Qualcomm are both still in the final stages of their R&D, but they will have their competitive products to the market very soon. Samsung will be pushing their latest Exynos 5, Qualcomm will have their Snapdragon 800 and just like NVIDIA they also are making the claim that they are the fastest guns in the west, but until we get some actual reviews and benchmarks, NVDIA is taking home the mobile crown with their Tegra 4. NVIDIA’s Project Shield, which we saw earlier this year, will pack the Tegra 4 inside and after seeing the benchmarks, it should make us all a little more excited for it’s launch. Mobile is getting more exciting daily and with NVIDIA in the game it makes the competition have no time to just sit on their butts and relax it keeps them on their toes, which always equates to good things to us the end users. Are you excited about the new Tegra 4 and Project Shield? Thanks for reading and please let me hear what you have to say in the comments below as your thoughts count here at TOT.
