As Apple gears up for it’s fall onslaught of new iDevice releases, it appears that their good buddies Samsung are looking to upstage them before they can announce the next generation iPhone 5S and rumored iPhone 5C.
Apple’s iPhone event is rumored to happen September 10th, but Samsung is holding their UNPACKED event on September 4th, nearly a week before Apple’s speculated launch event.
While Apple’s iWatch is still just a pipe dream at this point and is not expected to be announced at the September 10th event, according to SamMobile, Samsung alongside the announcment of the much anticipated Galaxy Note III, their also expected to announce their version of the smartwatch, which is reportedly going to be called the “Galaxy Gear.”
Not sure how I feel about the rumored name for the Samsung smartwatch, but it’s expected to boast a stainless steel design and work in unison with Galaxy branded phones. It may have a flexible OLED display but I wouldn’t hold my breath on that. Other features expected to be included are an all touch based design, speaker, and possibly both a microphone and a power button.
If the idea of a Samsung smartwatch doesn’t excite you, at the very least, we can look forward to the Galaxy Note III, which is expected to be a BEAST of a phone. It’s looking like we can expect a monstrous 5.7 inch full HD 1080p AMOLED display, 3GB RAM, a beefed up Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, a 13 megapixel camera and possibly Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box.
So what do you guys think? Are you excited about Samsung’s alleged smartwatch? or are you overlooking that and patiently waiting for the Galaxy Note 3? If there’s any Apple fans out there, let us know your thoughts on their rumored upcoming releases and as always, thank you for reading here on Tech of Tomorrow.
