As if the twists and turns of the phone industry could not get any crazier, it seems Samsung is upping the ante in the game. Okay so for fans of Samsung, the aspect of having one more phone to choose form is great, but two new Mega smartphones is very unexpected and welcome to phone fans. Now while us folks here in backwater America will have to wait ☺ The European hipsters will soon see the release of two new smartphones next month that will surely be big hits in the phablet market.

Behold the new Mega line of Samsung smartphones that will come in both a 5.8-inch and 6.6-inch size. It seems that Samsung is willing to go where no smartphone has gone before and is willing to do so with any size of screen in a devil may care way. We the people will be the determining factor in whether or not these new sizes will fly or dive as if sales take off and they are embraced Samsung has scored a victory, if not oh well back to the drawing board. Either way it’s really cool to se them doing this as bigger screens and better resolutions are becoming the new ‘‘in’’ thing.

The 6.3-inch model is said to have an HD screen that will most likely be a 1280X 720p display although the exact numbers are not clarified as of yet. It will also have a 1.7GHz Processor, feature Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and have an 8-megapixel camera. Software features like Air View, Multi Windows, and Pop-up Play will make sure you have plenty to do on the 6.3-inch display. This news series will fall somewhere between the Galaxy Note and 8 and the Galaxy Note 2, which is by chance the phone I currently use and love. Pricing is hopefully going to be on the nicer side of either one of those phones so you don’t have to sell an extra body organ to get one.  You also get things like LTE and HSPA radios as well as advanced GPS/GLONASS to assist you I any location based needs.

There’s a 3,200mAh battery and internal storage that can be expanded by microSD up to 64GB, with 8 or 16 gigs built in via two different models. The HSPA only Galaxy Mega 5.8 has a reduced screen size, but beyond that being in the same series the other specs are essentially the same although the resolution drops down to below HD (960X540) and has a slower 1.4GHz dual-core processor. The smaller version also only comes in a 8GB version. It does however still come with an enhanced 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with a 1.9 megapixel front-facing camera, along with a variety of camera modes including ‘Drama Shot’ (merging continuous shots of a moving object), ‘Sound & Shot’ (captures 9 seconds of sound and voice together as the picture is taken to capture moments), ‘Rich tone,’ ‘Sports’ and more.

You will also get a variety of new features for those on the go and who want and endless supply of entertainment. Things like S-Travel will allow you to easily plan and map out trips, find restaurants, movies or other entertainment. With story Book you can catalog your daily life by way of pictures and a timeline that keeps track of all of life’s little adventures. With better battery life and enhanced features you will be able to stay connected to your social media world as well as run all those multimedia apps for longer periods of time between recharges. My Note 2 barely fits in my pocket so I myself wonder just how well these new 6.3 and 5.8-inch jobbers will be embraced by the public due to the face that you will need something bigger than your pocket to carry them in. Maybe this will spurn a new era of clothing that ushers in the giant pocket design to accommodate these larger than standard sized devices called smartpockets ☺ I am interested in seeing what these new phones are all about, but how about you good folks? Do you think the new bigger screens are hip, new and cool, or way to big for a pocket phone? Lets see those opinions in the comments below my friends and let us hear what you have to say. Thank you for reading Tech Of Tomorrow where you are a part of tomorrow.
