For those with a bank load of cash and an extra arm or a leg to sell off, this is news for you. What am I am babbling about? Well Apple is rumored, and yes it is just an unconfirmed rumor at this point, but hey what the hell? it’s an interesting one at least. So here it is folks, Apple is supposedly working in a Bomb Shelter somewhere in the heart of the desert on a new 2TB SSD drive for their next Mac Pro refresh. How well that will pan out or if it even will is still speculation

From what we have heard thus far, Apple will finally release a Mac Pro refresh in 2013, but the Intel CPUs that they have planned are Intel’s latest Xeon processors are not due unitl late 4th Quarter 2013. I don’t consider myself a die hard Mac fanatic, but even a working class Joe like myself can see that this is just Apple letting a major portion of their user base down and jockeying around with our minds with the whole somewhere in 2013 release thing. Right now the Mac Pro series from Apple is starting to be a bit dated both hardware and features wise leaving many people including myself thinking that Apple is just being greedy and charging a premium for their now aging Mac Pro’s they have sitting on shelves.

Even if, and I do mean a big fat if, Apple does indeed come out with a 2TB drive, how much will it cost? I mean we all know Apple inflates their parts worse than the Bush family raises gas prices so will it even be affordable to any but the rich. Not to mention Apple is not in the SSD business, so are they truly developing it? or having it developed for them? Inquiring minds like mine want to know. Supposedly the new 2TB SSD would be housed in a standard 3.5’’ Form Factor enclosure just like a standard 3.5’’ Hard Drive allowing it to be mounted on their removable drive bays for quick easy installation. What the speeds are, as in access times read/write and such have not even been touched upon either. So what we have here folks is really just good old fashioned rumor that may or may not prove itself to be true, but if it does it will be interesting to say the least. So what do you think of this so called 2TB SSD thing, do you care at all, or is it just a bunch of hogwash better left for the water cooler at work? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below and thanks for reading.
