Enjoy Hiking & Carrying Heavy Items for Free? Google Wants You!
Google wants you! Not really like how Uncle Sam wants you but close. Google wants you to give back to your nation and take pictures of it. Yes, if you frequently are an adventurer and love to be at places no really can really go they want you to be apart of Google Maps.
If you ever wondered how Google gets those crazy 360 degree street view shots, here it is. Normally, the panorama camera ball machine mechanism is attached to either a vehicle, aerial vehicle or even a person!
If you look at these pictures provided, you can see these very strange sphere like lighting rod object attach to this persons back. It is called a Trekker. A Trekker is a 360 degree camera which automatically takes photos as you move. Previously, Google had only leant out this machines to select employees and very few organizations for scenic routes such as where vehicles can’t go like the Grand Canyon as shown in the picture.
Anyone can apply for these Trekkor backpacks but it is more likely to be chosen if you fulfill a certain criteria. Google explains with the following: “If you represent an organization such as a tourism board, non-profit, government agency, university or research group that would like to take photos with the Trekker for future inclusion on Google Maps, please fill out this form.”
It is still yet unclear if Google with be providing some kind of compensation to the persons involved in the project. But I am wondering will the also give us compensation for the embarrassment we will go through walking through the mall with this on. What do you guys think about this? Would you guys want to do this? Let us know with a comment down below!
