For the folks in the professional audio and video industry a lot of work is done on the Mac Pro, as it is the business workhorse for most recording studios and video editing houses as it just plain works great. It seems though that Apple has fallen asleep like an overfed giant as the naptime between product refreshes has been very lacking as of late for the Mac Pro, but alas good citizens rumors have it that we will soon be seeing a refresh for our industry this very spring.

So not only will spring love be in the air, Mac Pro lovers will also have reason to rejoice as well. Now, not only can they finally get a machine with all the latest CPU and GPU power, but also with all the new emerging technologies like Thunderbolt and USB 3.0, which has been a real bummer for those who could take advantage of what those new technologies have to offer the business person who values time just like money. Faster rendering and decoding will play an essential part in improving overall work productivity as it will take less time to do those intricate processes that are a major part of the media arena.

A lot of folks will never go anywhere near a Mac Pro, but I can tell from experience that once you have one though it is hard to use anything else in your studio as it just performs and performs without very much down time at all. For those who have waited your wait is almost over and it really is about time. It is actually a very strange turn of events as Apple is usually very tight lipped about their releases, but for some odd reason they are being very candid and open about the new Mac Pro as maybe even they know they have waited a bit too long for this refresh. The last refresh was a very ho-hum and disappointing one and hopefully this will change in the very near future. Opinions and or comments from you good folks is always a welcome thing? Let me know what you think, has Apple fallen asleep for too long with this audience?

Lol, no way in hell that I would buy that. I mean seriously, even if I were a “mac guy”, I would go the hackintosh route. Apple will get no money from me.

In my opinion if they actually start putting better parts in for the price then I’d consider buying it

Agreed. Think the cheapest Mac Pro is like 2k? And yet you can make a better PC via hackintosh with less than $1,500.

I learnt apple still use LGA 1366 motherboards in their machines. It’s now wonder they are very subtle about their tech specs.
