For the applications and uses being discussed, no. To capture uncompressed 1080p RGB24, you need at least a RAID0 pair of HDDs (or single SSD) and a decent CPU. Not to mention the software of course, like DXtory or Bandicam.
That’s not to say a dedicated capture card like AverMedia’s Live Gamer HD (or Portable for consoles) isn’t useful. It’ll definitely reduce the strain on your PC at the very least.

Im long time PC user and only console I had was PS2 (GREAT EXCLUSIVES) How many times you crashed to desktop, had BSoD, Driver issues, bad framerate, DRM issues? Does ANY console (that sold more than million units) got these problems? Theres no problems in games, problem is in operating system, windows kernel is repetitive and with only some changes since Windows NT (1993), losing compatibility over time (How much old applications are compatible with Windows 7?) while Linux kernel can even run UNIX applications without (or with minimal) hassle. What I think: When GNU/Linux will be used as gaming operating system, consoles will no longer exist (or will be in minimal quantities)

PS: GNU/Linux is already leading in: Servers, Supercomputers, Mobiles (Android is GNU/Linux) and since release of Windows 8 its growing much faster than before!

Also the PS4′s GPU has 18 Compute Units and is 1.84 TFLOPS whereas the Xbox has only 12 Compute Units and is 1.2 TFLOPS (not official).
Also on the PS4 there is a custom chip (most likely a ARM cpu) that can handle OS tasks (and maybe the whole OS?) so it looks like the cpu will be specifically for games and heavy usage tasks and in an interview with a EA staff member they said that its great to have access to all the ram (or something like that) meaning that maybe the full 8GB ram can be used by the games whereas on the Xbox One it is rumored to have 4GB of its ram allocated to the OS (rumor) because of multitasking and background stuff. So as you can see the PS4 is more powerful than Xbox One but you know developers might not harness all that power and maybe the games will look exactly the same.
