Acer Laptops with High-PPI (2880×1620) Displays

Rumors are being spread around that Acer might be planning to change several of its premium laptop displays with high-PPI displays. The exacts specs are not known yet but we do know Acer has shown off a 15 inch display with a resolution of 2880×1620. This rivals Apple’s high-res 27 inch monitor of 2560×1440. And to think back in the day we all thought 1920×1080 was the greatest resolution ever. That’s all in the history books now. With such a high resolution, images and movies should just look absolutely amazing. However, some DPI scaling will be needed since most items will appear way too small for comfort.

However, The Tech Report demonstrated in September that Windows 8 just isn’t ready to handle high-PPI displays or other custom PPI displays. If Microsoft can pull out more updates to accommodate these kinds of displays we would probably see more of these products. Regardless though, Acer probably won’t be launching these laptops until late spring or later.
