I know the amd processors are good for cheap builds but the intel i3-3220 is slighty better than the amd a10-5800k and it uses a lot less power although you can over clock the a10

Because it is an APU then you can only use the 6670 in crossfire. Get the 8320 and a decent card, the 6950 can be had for about $175 at TigerDirect: VisionTek Radeon HD 6950.

Good day all,

One has to remember that Sony will be getting special order parts all integrated into one so doing an “apples to apples” comparison is difficult at best but non-the-less fun. I suggest to Elric and company that they go with a low end 8-core processor or middle to high end 4 or 6 core processor from AMD. Then pair it up with a 6000 series GPU from AMD to bring it to “close” specs. The APU type unit they are going to be using will most likely be modified 8-core APU with enhanced graphics capabilities such as more stream processors than a typical APU and better integration with the DDR5 memory. They won’t want to invent a new wheel since using the same production masks at the manufactures saves a lot of $$ but they will want to integrate as much as possible. This will reduce complexity, improve throughput, overall speed, and reduce heat loads (hopefully).

first of all, this is a gaming pc build. people will be doing things other than gaming on their machine. And there will be times when those 8 cores come in handy. Besides that there’s no point in getting a discrete graphics card if you’re gonna use an apu. the 8320 is much faster than a 8150 for only about $20 @ Amazon. you can’t go wrong with a 8320

Graphics card: Amd Radeon HD 7850 1GB
Ram: 8GB of GDDR5
Power supply: Corsair 500 Watt
Case: Any good mid tower or mini case
Motherboard: I am not great with these but anything basic
Cooling Fan: If needed I would go for the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 120mm fan
Hard drive: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 7200rpm

I like the 8 cores but remember that the ps4 is only 1.6GHz for each core so I think the A10-5800K would be a perfect choice because you can spend more money on the GPU which I presume is the Radeon Hd 7850 1GB edition.

Put in The FX 8320 (the same as FX 8120, but faster). The APU wont be bad either, it has higher clocks than the old bulldozer.
