GIGABYTE Launches ‘Pi is Returned’ Overclocking Contest

This past week on HWBOT.org, one of the major manufacturers of motherboards and Graphics cards, GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co LTD., announced an overclocking contest to all HWBOT.org members that will be going on until the 16th of September.

In this “Pi is returned” contest, participants are tasked with testing out their skills on the AMD FM2 and AM3+ Platform groups, using the SuperPi 1M and SuperPi 32M benchmarks. A total of $5000 is being offered in cash prizes to 1st and second place winners, as well as a bonus for setting world records in each individual stage of the contest.

3rd place winners will walk away with GIGABYTE F2A85XN-WIFI and GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD3 motherboards.Entrants must use the official competition background and be able to provide verification screenshots of the SuperPi 1M or 32M scores,CPU-Z CPU/MEM/Mainboard tab, and a photo of the rig used. Here’s a full breakdown of the the contests groups and stages, as well as their placement prizes:

Group AFM1/2 (Llano/Trinity/Richland)

Stage 1: Super Pi 1M

  • 1st place $500
  • 2nd place $250
  • 3rd place F2A85XN-WIFI & AMD A10-6800K
  • World Record – $500

Stage 2: Super Pi 32M

  • 1st place $500
  • 2nd place $250

Group B – AM3+ (Bulldozer/Piledriver)
