R9 280 Technical Details
As far as the technical specs go on paper the R9 280X looks almost identical to the HD 7970GHz Edition card. Both have 2048 STREAM processors with an engine clock at 1GHz, 3GB of GDDR5 memory with a 384-bit memory interface with a memory speed of up to 6.0Gbps with a total computing performance of 4.1 TLOPS.
There are 2 power connections required to run the R9 280X, there is a single 6-pin and a single 8-pin with a TDP of 250W so a 600W PSU or better is recommended for stable running of the card.
There is a single PCIe 3.0 connection, 2 CrossFire fingers and support for DirectX 11.2 via GCN and support for OpenGL 4.3/ Mantle. 4K gaming is also fully supported as well although not many have that resolution monitor or TV yet. The card has a total TDP of 250W and the suggested power supply is 600W. On the rear I/O we see the same configuration the first generation HD 7970 cards had with a single DVI port, two mini display ports and a single HDMI connector.
