With the launch of Intel’s Haswell chipset, we will see many companies jumping on the bandwagon to get a piece of the action and make money off the launch. Both the desktop and laptop market will get a refresh of new products and systems to support the Haswell launch. The new products will most likely raise their head this year at Computex 2013 and there is now a rumor of a series of new Chromebooks all sporting Intel’s next generation CPUs.

Dinsin Francis from Chromestroy.com claims that a new product is coming and that the referenced Codename is currently “Slippy” as that is a name he came across while sifting through Chromium OS Code. When he actually dug a bit deeper he discovered that the “Slippy” reference is a unit based off of Intel’s latest Haswell technology that everyone is in high-anticipation of.  I hope it at least has an ultra high-res screen as well as Intel’s latest weapon under the hood as that would make excellent beginnings for a new laptop.

Almost all the Chromebooks released thus far have been based on lower end CPU technology such as an Atom, or Celeron processor or as seen in one case the Samsung Exynos 5 SoC, but when the Google Chromebook Pixel hit the shelves it changed that dynamic when it came to market with a Dual Core i5-3427U processor earlier this year. Take that all into consideration and then picture this, a new Chromebook with and excellent resolution screen, faster performance, and one of the most anticipated things Haswell and its amazing power management that translates into extended battery life periods. Slippy may be onto something here and if everything works out well this will be a product to keep your eyes out for. What do you think, does this sound good to you? I think on paper this sounds really great and I hope we see a product worthy of our attention and hard earned cash. Thanks for reading Tech Of Tomorrow where your opinions matter and we love to hear what you have to say. Leave a comment below and tell us what you think of this new “Slippy”.
