The DIY market has been ever growing and really the last lifeblood in the desktop market as everything goes mobile, but one product the Raspberry Pi has taken on a life of its own and rejuvenated the entire DIY scene. Engineers and students alike have used the new Raspberry Pi for rapid prototyping or for their very first programming venture. My son has been rambling on about this little device since the day he heard about it and it seems the rest of the world is with him in the excitement. You can say by all accounts the Raspberry Pi Model B has been a entirely huge success and at $35.00 it’s actually been hard to even find stock to get one to tinker on for myself.

In Europe it has now been announced that a trimmed down model A unit will be selling for an amazing $25.00 and that the rest of the world will still see this new A member very shortly thereafter. The thing is that is not the only new news about the World of Raspberry Pi as there are some significant changes with the new model A.  Less power consumption is good news, but the fact that you have to sacrifice Ethernet connectivity to get this is a negative that may be a total downside and deal breaker for many as this makes many projects a no-go situation. As I mentioned in an earlier article the School system is really starting to embrace the Raspberry Pi for its student’s education.

Another turn of the page show some very interesting news as well as it has come to light that major dealmaker and shaker Google has created a partnership with many schools in the United Kingdom to distribute and estimated 15,000 Model A boards to students across the UK. Google is very tricky indeed and they fully recognize that the super talents of tomorrow are the youth of today and that by investing in them they are creating a giant resource pool for future talents.  Children who grow up embracing and learning about the intricacies of electronics are much more likely to be the ones with great new ideas and ways to achieve them.  Google is thinking ahead and being very smart about how they go about getting a total win-win scenario.

From the street to the halls of Wall Street the Raspberry Pi has made waves that no-one can or even wants to ignore and soon it looks as if this product will be making prime time at every level. Over 1 Million units of Model B have already been sold and this has sparked many companies to jump on the bandwagon and create similar type products as enthusiasts are all beating their drum to the tune of Raspberry Pi and eagerly awaiting what’s next to come.  It’s been a year since the original launch of the Raspberry Pi and the snowball effect has taken hold of this new cheap and yet flexible platform. Model B was a huge success; will the Model A also win the affection of it as they did its predecessor? The year 2013 is still young and hopefully we will see Raspberry making great strides toward the future. What do you think, were hot on the trail of the Raspberry? Your opinions matter and we love to hear them, thanks for reading.
