NVIDIA Counters AMD with Debut of GTX 780 Ti Video Card

Lookout gamers here it comes the next big weapon from NVIDIA is about to see the light of day. NVIDIA’s CEO Jen-Hsun Huang announced that the new GTX 780 Ti will be hitting the shelves in November.

This is actually a bit weird as Jen Hsun is the big cheese and for he himself to make the announcement to me sends waves of information. Clearly NVIDIA is starting to see AMD as a bigger threat than in previous years and although he did not go into great detail about the specs and such its obvious they do not want AMD taking their lions share of the market.

This card is most likely going to be targeted at AMD’s soon to be released R9 290X card that is rumored to be the Titan killer, but NVIDIA is a very competitive company and you can bet dollars to donuts that they will remain that way. The new GTX 780 Ti should start to surface soon as reviewers from around the globe get their cards and start to test them.

It is almost inevitable that someone will break NDA and make a post sooner to the dismay to writers on an NDA, but that just seems to be the nature of the beast. NVIDIA wants to maintain your loyalty and support and I am sure we will se price drops and new cards as needed to keep them in the game. Thanks for reading Tech Of Tomorrow. Let’s see how much anticipation there is for this card in a mini poll down below. Happy Friday everyone!!!

    Don’t have money :(

I really do not care about the TI.. what I DO care about if their announcement for G-Sync… oh …. my… lord..

    • Fiberton

G-Sync is only useful on games that are choppy. On games that are already smooth.. it helps 0.

      • Serpent of Darkness

It’s suppose to ensure that all frames, new and old, are being written and shown on the frame buffer. Issue right now is that not all frames are being shown, and you can’t see an individual frame because when an old frame is about to be shown, a refreshed version is already being written, and that fame get shown. Reminds me of RadeonRPO’s Dynamic Frame Lock (DFL), but the FPS doesn’t get locked… DFL basically shows every frame because the refresh rate never changes, but the “time it takes to make a friend” aka Frame Time Latency, does…

        • Fiberton

Sad thing is that AMD will never be allowed to use it as its software just like physx…so AMD will just make its own. AMD should make a physx too which would be cool to use in Mantle. We shall see lots of things going on with video cards. Who ever wins that is which one I am buying :)

  • SlimJim

Legit benchies or we won’t believe at all.

I really wish they drop the price on a gtx 760 D:

  • Chuck Dorris

AMD releases an awesome graphics card series, NVIDIA gets mad and releases something like this.

    • Andrejs Silvans

fuck my life, just ordered a 770. Though I assume it won’t drop more than $5 after this is released since that’s how gpus of the same generation work now xD. But yes, as you said, this is clearly a response to the 290X and will not be released until real the 290x has been released (or at least the real benchmarks)

    • Fiberton

      BINGO :)

  • fernando peguero

#givemethecard it would be great to see it but have not money for it yet

  • Chris Ruedinger

I would consider greatly if I had the money for this…

  • Robert Eichouh

can do you a benchmark at 290x and 780ti if u can

    • detailX

mate at the very latest in Q1 2014 benchmarks won’t count anymore

      • Fiberton

Yep meaning Nvidia will have lost the race and this was just a stunt to try and get some people to wait for a product. As losing Market share is a huge deal for Nvidia right now. With a market cap of about 9 billion they could easily lose a billion in market cap from lower earnings. In the end what ever it takes to save the stock price.

  • detailX

and what us with the much more huge thing that nvidia has announced?

  • erodz1892

Where is this leaving the Titan ? More expensive than the 780 but very close when it comes to performance and now this should even pass the $1000 Titan ? At a lower price ? Doesn’t sounds good for Titan owners proud of a 780 evga but that 290x is looking really good I play in. Mini itx so only got room for a single powerful gpu

i just bought a xfx 7950 black edition off newegg with 4 games for $179… and in price for perfomance. you cant beat those cards.

    • devilhunter

xfx is a bad card supplier, care.

      • Alarik

I’m new to AMD card suppliers, is XFX really a bad make and why?

        • GS

I had a problem with one of their cards BIOS, their US site had chinese characters in the customer support pages and the files I needed were just in a html directory on the site. But when their cards work, they work fine.

  • BarackMcBush

Is this going to be between the Titan and gtx 780? Or more powerful than the Titan? Is this card necessary? Is this going to be confusing like the gtx 560′s with 3 or 4 models were?

    • Cal

Their was the 560 the 560Ti and then there was a special edition which had 448 cuda cores wasn’t very confusing was very much like you would probably look at the 7870xt pretty much a mini 7950 but in the case of the 560 was a lowered version of the 570.

      • BarackMcBush

Some people have lives and girlfriends and don’t read about or watch gaming hardware 6hrs a day and just simply buy a card at a store with only a little research AND I believe that You forgot about the gtx 560 se as well,So that proves My point.

        • cal

Either way though you are in a situation where as long as you do your research prior to a purchase you will be fine. Anyone who builds their own computer should at least do some level of research whether they have gf business, homework or w.e the fact is those things are excuses to being misinformed and buying to buy.

        • Leonardo

I have a work, life and a girlfriend and I knew what Cal was saying. You are being an asshole straight up by assuming that people who knows more than you, or dont find things as complicated as you do, dont have lifes.

          • BarackMcBush

No, You are being the asshole,I was using hyperbole to make my point, how many parents or grandparents, etc know the somewhat confusing different video card models in the same product line like the gtx 560 that I used for an example, when they give them as gifts? Obviously You possess limited reading comprehension or You would have able to deduce from My previous posts that while I have knowledge about video cards, others may not, the whole point of my original post.

          • Nick Wager

Barack McBush was being an asshole and parents and grandparents are not the primary consumers of graphics cards and internal computer components because most parents and grand parents don’t know much about it and don’t want to risk messing up and getting the wrong thing or something that isn’t compatible with their kid / grandkid’s motherboard

You gotta #givemethecard GTX 780 Ti.

  • Sean Wylie

No specs or benchies? Then 0 is the amount of craps I give

  • Serpent of Darkness

More than likely, the GTX 780 TI will have the same Cuda Count, but better binned GPUs. So there’s less leakage, resulting in faster core frequencies.

  • Brett Taggart

I dont think anyone will be wanting this card, because there is the MSI 780 Lightening, which is a completely non-reference design, and will probably similar specs to the 780ti, but hell that card is expensive enough

    • Tövar Björn

      That overclocks like shit.

      • Helpful Dude

dude, that card is already overclock really hard. And it actually does overclock quiet good. STFU :)

        • Tövar Björn

Yeah right, here it comes 2000w psu.

  • FamousPig

unfortunately i dont ahve infinite money,so i will not be able to afford this card.

  • Mohamed Khalifa

    i like it :) #givemethecard

  • Moinaldo

Hahaha Nvidia is just desperate… at what price will they release this card??? If it is meant to stop the 290x from taking the crown, then it’ll have to be faster than a Titan… so how much will it cost $1200… greedy fucktards almost 30% of profit in their calls

    • Fiberton

Nvidia is grasping at straws as the 290X will crush them. When mantle hits they know they are in trouble. It puts them a few years behind lb for lb and in that time AMD can move forward basically putting AMD always in Front taking market share. Nvidia will get use to it they did when 3DFX came out with a low level API. T minus Nvidia sueing AMD for using their IP. It is what they did to 3DFX when they lost massive market share to them. They eventually lost big time after losing the suit against 3DFX. Forced to buy 3DFX or pay 3DFX counter sue.. Buying 3DFX was cheaper.Killed Glide for anything but the games it already ran on. AMD is much bigger and stronger ..DERP for Nvidia.

I think the GTX780Ti might be more Powerful then the Titan, wonder how much though and how much they want for it. #givemethecard

  • Keven Brochu

What “ti” means anyway? I was always wondering the exact signification XD

    • Stefce

      Titanium

  • bruno M. O. Cardoso

    #GiveMeTheCard asus version

  • Andrew

    dammit just bought GTX 780

    • martin

      hurttttt

  • Devilhunter

The stock version of the card sucks so hard in general, I’d rather to get an asus or an EVGA 780 card, it would be nice if somebody makes a comparison between a evga 780 gtx acx and the stock 780 ti, nvidia would be in a pretty bad shape!.
Regards and thanks for the article.

  • Codex

Will this bring down the price of the normal 780 though? maybe… Hopefully XD

  • Corey Williams

Just looking to add a second 4GB 760 to my system. This constant one upping each other shit they got going on right now doesn’t matter to me.

  • James Edmonds

Nvidia needs to get it’s product line sorted out.
And AMD and Nvidia need to have better launches and release plans.
When new hardware comes out they release it when it’s ready so they don’t release half their cards 6 months late and con people. And advertise the price AT announcement.

  • Nick Wager

i was wondering what Nvidia’s response to AMD’s new card series would be but a single graphics card and a few price cuts fall way short of my expectations

  • aredflyingbird

Go and buy the 780ti you little shits, then NVIDIA could slap you again by releasing the 780ti boost….

  • Ze Übermensch

    Wonder how it’ll perform.

  • Mike Lightous

I would love to get this card.
Mostly is because I’m an NVIDIA fan. :P
But the most reason is because I do rendering of 3D projects and such.
I heard NVIDIA is perfect for that. AMD, not so much.
