Nvidia has announced they are releasing a new handheld gaming system called Project Shield. This their first handheld gaming system and it comes with some great specs. It features a 5 inch 720p retinal multi-touch display, Tegra 4 processor, and the latest Android Jelly Bean. All your favorite games from the Google Play store come right out of the gate for you with Android Jelly Bean. Project Shield also supports PCs running Nvidia’s GeForce GTX which will allow players to access games downloaded from Steam such as Assassin’s Creed III, Battlefield 3, Borderlands 2, Skyrim, and more. You can seamlessly play your favorite PC games right on your couch with great graphics and ultra low latency.

The controller resembles the old Xbox controller as seen above. It has the standard four buttons on the right with two thumbsticks and a directional pad. The screen can be closed down flush on the controller for more portability. Depending on the price and games that will be compatible for this new handheld system will determine if this will be a great product. *Update* We got to check out the Shield up close in person with NVIDIA at CES 2013!
