Today we’re taking a look at Kingston’s Mobilelite Wireless Flash Reader. It’s an SD and USB card reader capable of acting as a portable wireless hub to easily access your photos and videos through tablets and smartphones, which can also double as a back up battery for your devices.

First off this flash reader is really easy to use. All you have to do is download the app to your mobile device, plug in your storage device whether that be an SD card or a USB stick, then turn on the Mobilelite Wireless Flash Reader and connect to the your wifi. Instantly you will have access to all photos, videos, or songs in the supported formats.

Theses items can be downloaded onto your mobile device, or you can even upload pictures or movies from the camera roll of your iDevice to the SD card or USB stick. What’s really handy about this is that it gets rid of the middle man. It gives you an easy way to take photos or videos with professional camera equipment, plug in your SD card to Mobilelite and from there you can upload to facebook or twitter all without ever needing to plug in any cables. You can also still connect to wireless networks through the Mobilelite wireless app, so you can still have access to your storage devices wirelessly while still being able to browse the web or actively upload files.

The Mobilelite Wireless Flash Reader also comes with a battery backup mode which allows it to work as a power source through a USB connection, although this will vary based on what you hook it up to. To an iPad you’ll really only slow down the rate of drain and prolong life just a bit, but in the instance of a phone you can get as many as 4 extra hours if you’re in a pinch for nearby power outlets. It is important to note that you can NOT operate it in both wireless storage mode and battery  backup mode at the same time.

Overall for a retail price of $59.99, the Mobilelite Wireless is a fairly priced solution for those that need constant access to different stored media while on the run and saves a lot of time that can be wasted setting up a laptop or connecting to a desktop. Also, being able to charge your other devices is great too.
