Maingear Unleashes Pulse 17, World’s Thinnest 17-inch Gaming Laptop
Have you ever wanted a gaming laptop that didn’t hurt your...
We’re back on Tech of Tomorrow with yet another PC build, this time around, we’re focusing on creating the ultimate game capture setup so we can bring the highest quality PC game reviews to the table.
For this setup we went the Haswell route, with the heart of the system based around Intel’s i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core CPU. We also wanted the system to match aesthetically, so we opted to go with MSI’s Z87-GD65 Gaming Edition motherboard and the matching GTX 780 Gaming Edition Video Card. Enclosing this beast is the CM Storm Scout 2 mid-tower case which matched the black and red theme really well.
Because this is a game capture PC, there is a ton of storage on board, with a 256GB ADATA SSD for the boot drive, a 1TB Western Digital Black 7200RPM hard drive for the media/storage and two Western Digital 1TB Red hard drives which we’re setting up in a RAID-0 configuration for the game capture scratch drive. We also didn’t want to rely on FRAPS and take a hit on performance/quality, so we also threw in the AverMedia C985 Live Gamer HD Capture Card so we can achieve the highest possible quality game capture. Stay tuned for part 2 as we bring this PC to life and following that will be a performance video covering benchmarks and how the system performs! Complete parts list can be seen below. Enjoy!
