It seems as though there is a Loki in the midst of the PC industry, as today someone left an anonymous picture on the doorstep of Techpowerup showing off a pair of HD 7990’s running very pretty like inside of an enthusiast system that actually has some real visual stimuli. AMD has already shown off the new HD 7990 at the Gamers Development Conference or GDC as it is known to the public.

You can clearly see the emblazoned 7990 on each card, although the triple fans sort of give it away for those in the know or have been following this cards adventures. Code named ‘’Malta” and the previous generation 7970/7990 series was called New Zealand, which instantly makes me think of The Hobbit or Lord Of The Rings and also has me wondering if AMD had that original intent. The unofficial version of the cards from both Asus and PowerColor were beasts of cards sporting three 8-Pin power connections and triple slot cards as well as being loud as lawnmowers.

The new actually official cards offer much better circuitry, better cooling and far less power as they now only require dual 8-pin connections making power requirements much less stressful. Now that AMD is officially onboard I am sure these new cards will kick serious gaming ass and a pair of them is sure to be a deadly setup. AMD still has a chance to pull a rabbit out of their collective hat, and if the new HD 7990 has the pixel pumping power to beat the GTX 690 it will most certainly be on the radar of every enthusiast regardless of fan boy attachments to a brand or name. I personally can’t wait to see how this ends up as in any scenario we the end users always benefit from the VGA wars. So what is up AMD fans, are you eagerly awaiting this new series of card from AMD, or don you feel it’s a bit too late in the game for you. Thanks for reading Tech OF Tomorrow and we hope we see your opinions in the comments below.
