There are currently around 440 games on steam for the Linux OS, increasing all the time. But Steam OS boasts “Thousands of games, millions of users. Everything you love about Steam. Available soon as a free operating system designed for the TV and living room.” I’m not sure how accurate the claim of “Thousands of games” is, but if it’s not in the thousands then it is false advertisement.

because you obviously understand how architectures work, same kernel does not mean simple porting, but all the next gen consoles and anything on the PC will be using x86, which means that in the next gen games should be easier to port between them. I just cant fathom how uneducated some people are about a subject there going to comment on.

ummmm there are quite a lot of triple a titles on it already, i mean do you currently use steam on Linux cause i do and quite a lot of big games are on it, we have games like metro 2033 and last light is coming soon, cause developers are rushing to port all there games

No it won’t. It is very easy to port games between Xbox 1/360 and Windows because it is VERY compatible. Even PS4. These are only going to play Linux compatible games, period. They are going to have an uphill battle trying to get game companies to port Linux compatible versions, especially when Steam is considered a discount gaming gateway. Sure they get the new hot games and give preorders, but the majority of games that get on there go there to eek out that very last value of the IP, because they have already had their runs, hence the midweek, weekend and holiday special sales. This isn’t going to be groundbreaking unless they get development houses to design with Linux in mind and I wouldn’t hold my breath. Big Picture is a much better solution for this. This is just their attempt to get OFF of the Windows platform and they don’t like the restrictions Google puts on Play applications.

None of my games will be supported as they are all AAA multiplats and only a few indie titles and source games on on linux. Sorry, I’m not going to conoslize my gaming computer for this crap. Vale can eat a bag of d!cks if it thinks this will replace windows. There is a reason it has remained top in market share, because it works. Linux blows.
