Google Glass Gets a Makeover

Google Glass gets a Makeover and takes a new turn in its evolution. Ever since they have made the scene the one thing that most people agreed on was that the apparatus was a bit on the ugly side, but that is about to change. Google may just have unlocked the golden ticket to get GG really off and rolling. You can now get Google Glass in not only a custom frame, but also in prescription form as well completely widening their audience and user group in one fell swoop.

Having four new styles of frames is a really cool idea and right now Bold, Curve, Thin, and Split, which are known as The Titanium Collection are a brave step forward for Google. Another drawback to the standard Google Glass is that it stands out like a beacon sign begging for comment or dissent and now the glasses will look like just your everyday sun or prescription glasses allowing one to blend in with a crowd. This in my opinion is the coolest thing yet from Google as it opens many new doors with its glass product line for a much broader audience.

Being able to get your prescription in the form of Google Glass is something I myself will be looking into, as that will effectively kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Now the cost on these new bad boys is going to run you a $225.00 charge, but you may be able to get a full reimbursement from your health insurance for a zero cost investment for some.  Google is also offering two new shades for the Explorer Edition, which are the current goofy looing ones called Classis and Edge. There is not a whole hell of a lot of information on these, but they are rumored to cost around $150.00, which is cool, but I would opt for the $250 solution myself. Remember though this price is on-top of the $1500.00 Charge for the initial setup pair.

Overall I feel this is the best move that Google has done with this product line. It will allow the visually impaired a whole new way of viewing the world and for those who do not like to wear contacts this will be even better. The whole stigma around the entire Google Glass drama is that when you wear the original style glasses everyone knows what you are doing and what you are wearing causing social rifts amongst those who disapprove and tension with some businesses. Now you will be able to wear your Google Glass and not seem like such a Glasstard or Glasshole as the general public commonly refers to these folks. So what do you folks think? Win or swim, is this new idea something you would be more willing to embrace? Thanks for reading Tech of Tomorrow where we love to hear your opinion.

Me too. Even if I could just put on a pair for 30min, I’d love to see it for myself.

Disappointed by their current limitations but still fun to super geek out with a pair
