Gigabyte BRIX Pro Unboxing and Overview.

Hey tech fans, everybody loves a mini PC and with Intel taking the lead with their N.U.C version of PCs we see Gigabyte taking things just a bit further and in their own style by way of the all-new BRIX Pro. This little unit is so small it barely takes up any real estate on your desk, and it can also be mounted via its included “VESA” mount for putting the Brix Pro in an out of the way location. Although this unit is small it actually packs quite a punch and has some decent specs to back it up.

  • Features Intel® 4rd generation Core™ processors
  • Intel® Iris™ Pro graphics 5200
  • Supports 2.5” thickness 7.0/9.5mm Hard Drives (1 x 6Gbps SATA3)
  • Ultra compact PC design – 0.79L (62 x 111.4 x 114.4 mm)
  • 1 x mSATA SSD Slot
  • 2 x SO-DIMM DDR3L Slots (1333 / 1600 MHz)

  • 4 x USB 3.0

  • Headphone jack with S/PDIF
  • VESA mounting bracket (75 x 75mm + 100 x 100mm

Inside is a micro ATX motherboard from Intel that has an onboard I7-4770R CPU that also sports Intel’s Iris 5200 embedded graphics solution that although may not be a NVIDIA or AMD killer, it still does a decent job at 1920X1080P in many games. 3D FPS shooters may have a hard time being played on higher resolutions, but game like WOW, DOTA2, StarCraft and many others will play very decently with the 5200 Iris graphics. The entire N.U.C platform is not geared for high-end gaming, but more of a total home or business solution for email, gaming and social media all in a very small package.

Intel has a few models of the N.U.C that they are selling, but the Gigabyte BRIX Pro is basically a N.U.C on steroids and a bit more powerful than anything Intel is currently selling under their brand name. The Brix Pro uses 2-SoDimm memory slots just like a laptop and can also use mSATA or standard SATA drives internally. There are just enough USB 3.0 ports for a keyboard, mouse on the front and additional 2 on the rear. The front panel also has an SPDIF audio jack for speakers or headphones, and the rear panel is fleshed out with a LAN port, mini Display Port and HDMI connections. Power is provided via a power brick and cable combination included inside the box. If you want to see the unit being unboxed and see everything in the packaging check out the video down below and thanks for reading Tech of Tomorrow.
