This is basically the same thing as RAMdisk, the only thing different from the RAMdisk is that this has more memory and does not need an specialized software for it to work. Am I correct or have I overseen something?

Definitely not, DDR3 is faster but to be on the safe side I’d rather look at the benchmarks first when they ‘re released. Also DDR4 will be a lot faster than DDR3 unlike DDR3 being slightly faster or even slower than DDR2.
