I prefer a good ear-bud over these. I know there’s limitation with the buds but I like to style my hair and as stupid as it might sound I don’t want to mess with my do.

Sony Stereo headset for PS3 had virtual 7.1 and did great positional Audio. Virtual can work as long as a name like Sony does it as in my opinion they are very good are doing sound. The PS4 sounds unreal with Astro A50′s, can’t really comment on positional as I mostly play on PC

Yeah and it’s just virtual 7.1 just like the SIberia v2 USB, kind of gimmicky and you could easily just use software to virtualize 7.1 like Razer Synapse Surround or dozens of other programs with a quality headset and separate microphone.
That’s just how it is though, headset manufacturers cater to gamers and casual users, never doing one thing amazingly. Any audiophile already knows this, but if you’re a gamer and just want something basic, there are cheaper, more capable options.

What about sound quality? Most audiophiles will recommend you stay away from headsets and vote for a good pair of headphones with a descent soundstage, and attach a standalone mic. Often much cheaper and better quality overall
