NVIDIA Debuts GeForce Experience 2.0 on Monday April 7th. Its early Monday morning and we are happy to announce the latest release of NVIDIA’s control center for gaming, other wise known by the moniker GeForce Experience 2.0. 2.0 really brings a lot of new things to the portable gaming world and gamers who find themselves doing a lot of laptop gaming will now be able to do a multitude things previously only available to the desktop.

Since its first iteration in May of 2013 the GeForce Experience has been a growing entity that seems to be getting better step by step. When version 1.0 was released there were 80 game titles available and an almost overnight 1 million installs of the software GUI.

Screenshot 2014-04-07 01.58.40

By October NVIDIA had implemented SHADOWPLAY, where users could now capture their game playing footage much better than FRAPS, and GAMESTREAM allowing users to play 100 games by way of their SHEILD through the NVIDIA cloud.

Screenshot 2014-04-07 02.29.42

By November Adjustable OPS was announced and now 120 game titles were supported with 18M installs. For Christmas NVIDIA let loose they’re TWITCH Broadcast option allowing users to “Live” broadcast their gaming so they could now show off their mad skills to the world. At this point there were also 130 games titles supported and 24 million people had jumped on GeForce Experience bandwagon. TWITCH has become a very popular way for people to share and NVIDIA was smart to add this into their feature set.

Today NVIDIA announces 4 new things with the release of GeForce Experience 2.0 and many of them seem to be focused on the laptop and mobile sector, but not there are also a few new cool things all around with 2.0. SHADOWPLAY on Notebooks, GAMESTREAM on Notebooks, Battery Boost, and Desktop Capture are all new things that are being introduced today by team green. With this release also comes a brand new DX 12 capable driver the new 337.50, which replaces the 335.23 driver offering substantial performance gains and better overall performance than MANTLE can currently muster.

Now you will be able to have all of your games on your laptop optimized for not only better playing, but also 2X longer gaming times. This will run automatically in the background with very little system resources being used. NIDIA’s Battery Boost is a step in the right direction for laptop gaming as there is a huge divide between desktop and laptop GPU/CPU power and now with GeForce Experience 2.0 your games will automatically be set to what is best for your system. You will also now be able to capture and broadcast all of your games from your laptop as well as stream all of your titles to the NVIDIA SHEILD via GAMESTREAM.

Screenshot 2014-04-07 02.10.23

Full Desktop Capture is another feature of 2.0 and will now allow users to capture images from your desktop. This new feature will be used for capturing Windowed and Borderless Windowed Games in both DirectX and OpenGL games. This is something that is currently only for the desktop and one of the features not having to do with the mobile market, yet. Another desktop feature is custom encoding and new broadcast options. You can now create a custom output resolutions as well as custom Bit Rate and Framerates, Auto-pause using the Alt-Tab keys, broadcast at 60 FPS and 2.0 now allows Auto Game Naming.  All in all you can see NVIDIA wants to make your gaming environment even better and easier than ever with GeForce Experience 2.0 and it will be available for download by the time you are reading this at 6AM PST. If you are an NVIDIA fan it has never been easier to keep your games up to date, configured for there best playing options and with the latest drivers always installed. Are you Experienced? If you have a new NVIDIA card and are not using the GeForce Experience you are seriously missing out on something cool from team green. Thanks for reading Tech Of Tomorrow where we have a comparison of the older 335.23 driver against the new 337.50, and the results are very nice so check out the site later today for that article.

If you value build quality and design in your smartphone very highly, it all comes down to two gadgets: the iPhone 5s and the HTC One (M8). Both are undoubtedly fantastic smartphones, but there are pros and cons to each one and one or the other may fit your needs a bit better than the other.

The HTC One (M8) is undoubtedly one of the most leaked smartphones of all time, but still manages to impress with its bold design. Thought it is similar to its predecessor, the M7, the minor improvements make it feel even better. The rounded off edges make the device fit better in the hand than last year’s model.  HTC has of course included their now-staple BoomSound front-facing speakers, which just makes sense for watching video and makes me wish every smartphone I use has it.

The iPhone 5s is definitely an “S” generation iPhone for Apple. It stays virtually the same, design-wise, to the 2012 iPhone 5. However, that’s probably a good thing. We’ll always see the Apple-critics moaning about the lack of a bigger screen, but no one can deny the beauty and elegance of Apple’s simple design. The 5s fits perfectly in the hand and the gold color option adds an appeal of its own.

Clearly, the HTC One M8 would win a pure spec war, but specs are irrelevant when compared to the actual experience using the device. HTC’s M8 is running Android 4.4 with its brand new Sense 6 skin. Android 4.4 KitKat is the latest (and sweetest) version of Google’s OS and HTC’s Sense skin has just gotten better from what we’ve seen from the M7. From my time using the M8, it absolutely flies, with its industry-best Snapdragon 801 CPU, and Sense 6 looks sleek and modern. The iPhone 5s is running iOS 7.1, an update to iOS 7 that has really improved the user experience from my 5s. iOS does lack the customizability and flexibility of Android on the M8, but iOS 7 on the 5s and its zippy A7 chip is blazing fast, smooth, and consistent.

One thing Apple has been doing right with the iPhone is the camera. The 5s camera is, hands-down, the best camera on any smartphone (save for the Lumia 1020 which is more camera than phone). HTC’s previous flagship, the M7, had a decent 4-megapixel “Ultrapixel” camera. It worked well in low light, but was just about an average performer overall. The shots from the M8 camera have shown improvement over the M7, but I’d still give the edge to the iPhone.

HTC One M8 iPhone 5s HTC One M8 iPhone 5s

If you want a big screen, however, go HTC. The HTC One M8 features a gorgeous 5-inch 1080p LD with 441 PPI. The colors are accurate and the screen has great brightness. This leads me to give the crown to the M8 as the best “media consumption device” with its industry-best screen paired with front-facing BoomSound speakers. Apple has a smaller 4-inch display on board with the 5s and 326 PPI. This is not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but the HTC One M8 dwarfs it here.

And then, there are the little things. The iPhone 5s features a Touch ID fingerprint scanner for unlocking the phone and for payments, and is overall consistent and convenient. HTC throws in a microSD slot for expandable storage and is great if you take a lot of pictures or enjoy taking your entire music library with you. Both carry Bluetooth 4.0, but the M8 brings NFC and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. No wireless charging at all here, probably due to their primarily aluminum architectures.

At the end of the day, deciding between these two flagships is tough. Keep in mind, when purchasing an Android device over an iOS device, and vice-versa; you’re buying into an ecosystem (Google’s vs. Apple’s). If you like the simplicity of iOS, the spectacular camera, and pocketable, yet gorgeous, design, the iPhone 5s is the better fit. If you like the flexibility of Android, a big and beautiful screen, front-facing speakers, and aren’t the biggest photographer around, the HTC One M8 is your phone. Either way, both smartphones both secure their places in the top of the smartphone world, and honestly, it is quite the luxury to be struggling to make a choice on which superphone to carry in your pocket.

“Raise the Bar.” This is Oppo’s mission with their flagship for 2014, the Find 7. You probably haven’t heard of Oppo before, as they don’t exactly have a big presence in the U.S. and Europe. But, now is the time to start paying attention.

The headliner for the Find 7 has been the “50-megapixel camera,” and I want to clear this up. The device doesn’t actually have a 50-megapixel sensor onboard, but a 13-megapixel Sony IMX214 CMOS (the same sensor that is packed into the newly released OnePlus by One). Engadget reports that there is software packed into the Find 7 that makes 50-megapixel photos possible, dubbed Pure Image 2.0. The camera can take 10 shots very quickly and combines the first four images into a hefty 50-megapixel photo. And no, the camera doesn’t swivel like how it did on the Oppo N1, the company’s CyanogenMod-touting device. The IMX214 on board can also record video in 4K, joining the ranks of Samsung’s Galaxy Note III.

Specs-heads, the high-end Find 7 is your phone. A 5.5-inch IPS LCD display is onboard with an inane QHD (2560×1440), delivering a jaw-dropping 538 PPI. A snappy 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 CPU is running the show, paired with 3GB of DDR3 RAM. It comes with 32GB of onboard storage, but this expandable via microSD all the way up to 128GB. The device also comes with LTE, 802.11ac WiFi, and a 3,000mAh juice pack. This premium model will cost $599 contract-free.

The lower-end model, called the Find 7a/Find 7 lite, costs a Benjamin less, at $499. But, fret not; the specs are still quite respectable. It will feature a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, a more modest and standard 1080p screen, 16GB of storage, and a slightly smaller 2800mAh.

Oppo_Find_7

I’m a bit disappointed with the software, however. The Find 7 will run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean covered with Oppo’s domestic Color OS 1.2 skin, rather than the latest and greatest Android 4.4 KitKat. I feel as if Oppo missed an opportunity here to make the device quite a bit faster. KitKat has been quite a bit smoother than Jelly Bean in my experiences and the KitKat visuals are thoroughly modern and very clean looking. Hopefully a 4.4 update isn’t too far away, but I really wish it just ran KitKat out of the box.

The Find 7 also has some unique tricks up its sleeve. Color OS bring MaxxAudio which seems similar to Beats Audio that HTC previously put in their phones and VOOC battery charging tech. VOOC allows the phone to charge up to 75% full in just half an hour!

Oppo has cased the Find 7 with quite the design. The LED notification light, called Skyline Notification, looks absolutely breathtaking. Oppo hopes to push the Find 7’s build quality up to the top, with the likes of HTC and Apple, with five layers of thermal protective coating and a titanium-aluminum alloy frame. Despite the premium build, the phone is still relatively light at 171 grams and has a removable battery.

All in all, the Find 7 looks like on impressive smartphone. It will be available in limited stock this April, but should start hitting more markets in the May-June timeframe. Oppo is undoubtedly trying to break into the U.S. smartphone market, and with appropriate carrier availability, the Find 7 could certainly achieve that. Honestly, it looks more exciting to me than Samsung’s 2014 flagship, Galaxy S5 and most definitely has the potential to compete with the big boys of the smartphone world, like the next-gen iPhone and HTC’s All New One.

Oh yeah, and the Find 7 does make phone calls.

2014. Everyone is calling it “the year of wearables.” But with Google and Apple being quiet about their plans for wearables, it hasn’t felt like “the year of wearables.” Until now.

Google has announced Android Wear, basically a smaller version of its Android OS, with a plan in mind accommodate to wearable app developers. Smartwatches are what immediately come to mind, but they’re just the beginning, says Google.

Going to the Android Wear page on Google’s website greets you with the tagline: “Information that moves with you.” This references to Google Now, Google’s highly successful service that gives appropriate information at the appropriate time. These “cards” that you would normally see on your Android or iOS device will be elegantly expanded to your wrist with Wear.

One of the handiest features of Google Now, particularly shining on the Moto X, has been the always-listening experience. Anytime you need your watch to assist you during your daily life activities, just say “OK Google,” and the world of Google is at your fingertips.

I know, I know, voice search isn’t exactly mind-boggling anymore in 2014, but Wear is so much more than that. As previous speculation has pointed to, Wear gives you contextual updates, just like Now. For example, if Google’s Location Services detect that you have a flight leaving in 5 minutes, it will alert you to hurry up while you’re at the terminal.

Wear also pulls in notifications from favorite Google services, such as Hangouts, and allows you to respond to these messages swiftly and by using your voice. But the real potential lies in the hands of application developers. Google says “favorite fitness apps” will offer relevant information, such as your speed and distance covered during your workout.

I cannot wait to see the specific watches from their respective companies. Put quite simply, Google’s vision is absolutely gorgeous. Moto’s 360 looks promising and I love the circle watch face and spectacular design it brings to the table. LG’s G watch also looks very sleek with its understated, but mysterious, jet-black design.

Personally, I have held off buying any sort of smartwatch thus far. However, Android Wear certainly looks promising. Apple is bound to announce their long-awaited iWatch any day now. Pebble has got a lot of completion now, and their CEO is “excited” (I love completion). The development and innovation we are going to see in the next couple years in the smartwatch application field will be awe-inspiring, hands-down. Keep your eyes peeled, because 2014 just might be the year.

NVIDIA Unleashes Their GTX 800M With Battery Boost Software For Extended Gaming Performance. As NVIDIA prepares to roll out their GTX 800M series this time we see more than just a new breed of mobile processors as NVIDIA is also releasing a new software tool called Battery Boost. If this were the desktop market the thought of enhanced battery life would mean nil, but when it come to portable devices battery power is a very key aspect of the entire notebook platform. NVIDIA has hinted that maybe a new version of the desktop PC may one day see the light that is powered by batteries, but on that one I am not holding my breath.

As this new technology arrives one of the biggest questions is what products have what GPU inside. Will it be a Maxwell or Kepler product? That is where the waters get a bit murky, as this question is a bit complicated. Some GPUs such as the GeForce 830M and 840M are both Haswell based, as is the GTX 85M and a few of the 860Ms so where does the conundrum come in? Well NVIDIA will be offering 2 different versions of the GeForce GTX 860M, one version is the 1152-core variant that is Kepler based and clocked at 797MHz (+ Boost) and the other a 640-core variant based off the Maxwell chipset that is clocked at 1029MHz (+Boost).

NVIDIA claims that even though they are 2 different animals that they will still run very similar and from the scores seen from around the net that seems to be a pretty accurate statement. Performance improvements can be seen on the whole with existing 800M Kepler cards thanks to some significant tweaks to the Kepler based cards. The 880M Kepler gets a clock speed increase going from 823MHZ as seen on the 780M Kepler to 954MHZ + boost and the 870M Kepler is up from 719MHz and 1344 cores seen on the GTX 775M to 941MHZ + boost, but with the same amount of cores. Although not earth shattering these new improvements show NVIDIA is able to squeeze out just a bit more performance and at the same TDP values.

NVPerfClaim-640x528

NVIDIA states that dues to the maturity of the chipset as well as better binning of chips has allowed them to thus far keep the Kepler technology alive and flourishing even in the wake of a new GPU series. With battery boost obviously longevity of the life of the batter will be extended. Battery Boost is a brand new software application from NVIDIA entirely geared to save and extend the life of your battery. On paper that sounds like the yellow brick road to longer hours of playing or working on your laptop. So basically the new Boost software is a program that interfaces with the GPU and the game in question to maximize the longevity of your battery. The program allows the user to custom configure many aspects of the gaming environment.

GF-BatteryBoost-640x571

You can adjust the frame rate cap, the level of in-game detail and other things as well, NVIDIA also has the program making an additional amount of changes all made for keeping you gaming longer. NVIDIA specifies a 30 FPS default frame rate for Battery Boost, but notes that this is completely user-configurable so if you want to play at higher frame rates, you can always tweak the game to allow it. The program can be set to run automatically when your system switches to battery power, or you can custom configure it on a game pre game basis depending on you preference. To use the software properly NVIDIA suggests that you launch the game from their desktop interface, as making changes in game seems to be a bit of a hassle and not worth the difficulty involved. NVIDIA is not saying much more at this time point other than the BB software does more than just save battery life as it should also help enhance other areas of your system to boot. For those who love to game on their laptop the news has never been better. Thanks for reading and have a great Monday folks. BTW Shadow Play, which is a great capturing program will be making its way to the mobile sector as well and if you have used it you know it works much better than a standalone program like FRAPS, and guess what, its free.

Pre-Order Price List and Specs Pop Up for Refreshed Haswell CPUs

For those who may be looking to jump into a new system or upgrade their older machine it seems Intel is about to refresh their Haswell line of CPUs.  The rumor mill has it that new SKUS of Haswell parts will find their way onto retail shelves in Q2 of 2014, but for the full scoop we will still have to be a bit patient.  Regardless of how you slice it, for Intel fans a new line of Haswell CPUs is exciting.  We will be speeds bumps in the minimum, and maybe a few new things if Intel wants to be snazzy.

There also just so happens that at least one online e-merchant has already listed pricing on 10 new models of CPUs and all of them have at least a minimum of a 100MHz speed bump. Seeing this maybe you should not get too excited, but maybe there will be more to come, and as is the pricing and CPU groups look solid.  All base and Turbo frequencies are up and since there are already a lot of people with Socket 1150 chipsets board some upgrading may just be in store for some. Anyways check out the pricing and new Haswell parts coming soon from the folks at Intel down below.

▪   Intel Celeron G1840: 2.8GHz, 2MB cache, $47.51

▪   Intel Celeron G1850: 2.9GHz, 2MB cache, $59.20

▪   Intel Pentium G3240: 3.1GHz, 3MB cache, $70.96

▪   Intel Pentium G3440: 3.3GHz, 3MB cache, $90.54

▪   Intel Core i3 4150: 3.5GHz, 3MB cache, $132.73

▪   Intel Core i3 4350: 3.6GHz, 4MB cache, $155.12

▪   Intel Core i3 4360: 3.7GHz, 4MB cache, $166.31

▪   Intel Core i5 4590: 3.7GHz, 6MB cache, $213.36

▪   Intel Core i5 4690: 3.9GHz, 6MB cache, $235.75

▪   Intel Core i7 4790: 4GHz, 8MB cache, $326.48

These CPUs will be replacing older ones and the pricing is pretty on par with the prices of Intel’s current Haswell lineup, which means the older parts will drop in price very soon. Its always good to see new technology arising as it means that new lifeblood is injected into the market, and new toys for all us hardware junkies who love to fiddle. Thanks for reading Tech Of Tomorrow folks hopefully the wait will not be too long before these new Haswell boys hit the market.

HTC isn’t set to release it’s 2014 flagship until later this month and now, less than a week after Samsung unveiled it’s new Galaxy S5, HTC’s next generation One smartphone has leaked in a 12 minute video that we’re not sure you can make through in it’s entirety.

The element of surprise is seemingly gone in the smartphone world, with leaks being a regular thing lately but something about this leak in particular really takes the fun out of a new product. It looks like a young kid was able to get a hold of the new One from his parents (who may be testers and/or work for HTC) and take us through a painfully awful walkthrough on HTC’s new device.

The video obviously didn’t bode well with HTC as it’s been pulled a few times but from what we’ve gathered from the video is that the new HTC One will sport a bigger 5.2 inch display, dual-cameras and woo-hoo, a micro-SD card for external expandability.

There was no mention of the processor or battery life (you’d think during a twelve minute video, there’d be time for that) but regardless of that and the sub-par video, the new One is shaping up to be a sweet phone. Are you guys excited with what we’ve seen before? and also let us know what you think on the situation – should the kid’s parents be held responsible if the leak is the case? Let us know by voting in our poll below!

Should the Parent's of the Leaker be held Responsible and possible lose employment?

We just put up a 4K gaming shootout the other day with a comparison of Gigabyte’s Windforce  R9 290X and MSI’s Twin Frozr Gaming GTX 780 Ti and we’re back again to talk about 4K gaming but this time it isn’t about a PC.

There were claims dating back to last year when Qualcomm announced its Snapdragon 805 processor that it could dish out UHD graphics on a tablet and we’re finally able to see that in action. Aside from the Galaxy S5 announcement, there really weren’t a whole lot of exciting things at this year’s MWC but Qualcomm’s self-branded 4K tablet was definitely one of them.

The tablet showed off a few different games, a couple of which included Injustice: Gods Among Us and Asphalt 8 which are running at a resolution of 3840 x 2160. That’s four times the amount of pixels of 1920 x 1080 incase anyone is reading this on a 1080p screen. The first consumer tablets and smartphones that are able to implement the Snapdragon 805 which should clock in at 2.5 GHz with four Krait cores are expected to arrive this summer. Anyone excited for this?
