Gigabyte today just launched its latest FM2 series motherboards supporting the next generation of AMD A-Series APUs. The Gigabyte F2A85X-UP4, which is the main star of this series, includes Gigabyte’s Ultra Durable 5 technology, digital power delivery, Dual APU Clock generators, 3D Bios and more. This brand new series from Gigabyte allows you to get the most out of AMD’s new Trinity technology.

“A number of new features and technologies make their debut on the AMD platform, including Ultra Durable™ 5 technology, Dual UEFI 3D BIOS, Digital Power delivery, triple display support and Lucid Virtu MVP,” commented Tim Handley, Deputy Director of Motherboard Marketing at GIGABYTE. “These new FM2 series motherboards offer outstanding value for any DIY builder looking to harness the improved performance of AMD’s Trinity APUs”.

Below are just some of the great features you will acquire when picking up this board for your next PC build.

Dual APU Clock Generators

As most people know, non-K Model AMD APUs have a locked multiplier which can limit potential overclocking and ultimately give nightmares to any overclocker. However, with the Gigabyte FM2 series motherboards you can overclock these as much as you want granted you don’t fry the board. They are equipped with an additional APU bus frequency generator that allows a much higher clock ceiling which makes these boards the ideal choice for overclockers.

GIGABYTE Ultra Durable 5 Technology

The Gigabyte FM2 series motherboards also come with Gigabyte’s Ultra Durable 5 Technology which features High Current Capable components including the industry’s highest rated 60A IR3550 PowIRstage ICs. These motherboards provide the best quality power to the CPU for record-breaking performance, cool and efficient operation.

GIGABYTE 3D BIOS

These motherboards are the first AMD platform motherboards to feature the exclusive Gigabyte 3D Bios. I am a big fan of these when they first came out. The boards really do provide a great UEFI interface allowing beginning overclockers and enthusiasts to push their limits with ease and precision.

AMD A-Series Platform Overview

The FM2-Series platform is based on the latest FM2 socket which supports the new AMD APUs (Accelerated Processing Units) based on the AMD ‘Trinity’ architecture. The new AMD A10 series combines up to 4 cores with the latest AMD 7000 series graphics core which offers an amazing visual experience with increased performance.

30% Performance Boost over Previous Generation

Also, the latest AMD 7000 series graphics has embedded all the Trinity APUs that bring 3D gamers up to 30% better 3D performance compared to last generation. This makes the latest FM2 platform an ideal choice for mainstreaming 3D gaming. It also supports Microsoft DirectX 11, OpenGL 4.2 and OpenCL 1.1.

Tested and Verified on HWBOT.org

This board has also been tested and verified by respected overclocker and HWBot.com aficionado, Massman, who managed to push the AMD A10 5800K APU to achieve a 3DMark Vantage Performance score of over 10,000 points. Its absolutely amazing because this is better performance than many discrete graphics cards available today in the market.
