Whenever new games come out I am one of the first to get them, or at least try to. I always want to be the one of the first men on the ground, marveling at the wonders developers have laid out before me. I have also got to admit that Battlefield 2 was one of my favorite games of all time! I must have sunk entire months of my younger life into that game.
When battlefield 3 came out I played it for hours on end, losing whole weekends into the game and when I finished with it on console, I bought it on PC just to re-live the joy I had, and it was awesome. Epic 64 player battles taking 20 minutes to fight over a single building, I remembered the amazing battles I had fought on Battlefield 2 (In Karkand especially) It was beautiful. So when I heard that the Frostbite 2 engine was to be used in producing another game I instantly went and pre-ordered it. I couldn’t wait, unfortunately I would be away for the 3 days after release day and couldn’t play it, but the Friday after release was going to be nostalgia day.
After a large almost 16GB download I was all set up and ready to play, I stumbled my way across Battlelog to get into a match, but then I was confronted with millions of options! What do I press? So I quickly clicked on everything I possibly could and spawned off my “Buddy”. Quickly I learned that this was not a wise thing to do, considering he turned around and shot me, but being betrayed within 5 seconds of spawning did not deter me, I was straight back to war shooting everything in sight.
Medal Of Honor: Warfighter can be cruel though, because unlike most FPS’ where one team all wear the same uniforms in MOH:W you can have an SAS soldier all kitted up in desert clothing who is fighting, side by side with a US OGA soldier who was wearing Jeans! Anyhow wearing jeans and being on my team didn’t go to well for the poor fellow, who I must have shot at a fair few times.
After finally getting over my fear of teammates I quickly worked out what I was actually doing, figured out how to customize my weapon, and was doing quite well. The game does however suffer from a few glitches and bugs which are holding it back; when they are sorted it will be amazing and I do enjoy it how it is and hope a lot of people make the transition from BF3 to Warfighter. Hopefully the problems will be sorted out quickly as Danger Close (The developers) have already released a day 1 patch as well as a day 5 patch.
I love the buddy system (2 players who form a Fire Team [a team within a team]), which leads to the conclusion that this game is a lot more awesome if you play it with a real buddy whom you can talk to. As with all games many people are terrible and the only way to refill ammunition and get instant health regeneration if from standing next to your Buddy (Which becomes a lot harder if your buddy is running around firing his weapon like a headless chicken). At the end of a match the winning pair of “Buddies” [Buddies who scored the most on the winning team] get a little animation with their characters high fiving each other, which is awesome especially when it is you! I do not score games because everyone’s opinion is different, and this game grows on you. I would definitely recommend getting this game, a brilliant mix of Call of Duty’s fast paced action and Battlefields slower more tactical side. And when you learn how to play the game it becomes so much more awesome!
