Nexus 5 to feature Nikon Camera & Beefed up Battery?
Phone news keeps getting sweeter and sweeter! The Google Nexus line, which is a favorite of mine, has begun to have rumors spread about a new Nexus in the making! According to Phonearena, a source has informed them of a Nexus 5 in the works that will sport Nikon camera technology. The phone is said to have a 5-inch display rocking 1080p resolution, a Snapdragon 600 processor, and 2GB of RAM. The phone will come in 8 and 16gb options and a ridiculous 3140 mAh battery which is perfect because my rooted, CyanogenMod Galaxy S3 battery life is such a disappointment. Really, the main selling point with the Nexus 5 seems to be the rumored triple sensor camera that will be manufactured by Nikon.
These rumors seem to make a lot of sense being that the Nexus line is not really known for outstanding camera quality or having a long battery life. Senior Vice President of Engineering for Google gave a statement on Google+ saying that Google is “committed to making Nexus phones insanely great cameras” which further supports these rumors. The Google Nexus has always lacked in image quality where as Apple’s iPhone or Samsung’s Galaxy series shines. If the rumor of Nikon and Google joining forces is true we can expect to see an outstanding performance in image quality with the up in coming Nexus, being if it has the three layer sensor which can possible produce some very high resolution imagery and better color renditions.
With the Nexus line being favorited among many software junkies and Android rooting enthusiasts, Google can start to make the shift in target audiences to the average consumer who’s only interests are cheap, preferably no-contract, high resolution phone cameras with LTE capabilities being a nice added bonus. With the recent release of LG’s Nexus 4, Google has a pretty good idea of what their customers want from a Google product and that’s battery life, image quality and LTE for christ sake! You got one more chance at this Google, please don’t screw it up! What do you guys think of this rumored Nexus 5 phone? Really interesting topic that I really like to hear from you guys about. Are you excited or do you think this is just a myth that will never happen? Let me know with a comment down below..
