I’ve always thought it was comical that you can spend an upwards of 3,500 dollars on a camera that can do everything but save photos on to the camera. Who would’ve thought memory cards were such a necessity right?

We’ll Toshiba is making it a luxury with the new release of what is claimed to be the world’s fastest SD cards ever made. It is called the Exercia Pro line and geared to professional that want to reach the SD speeds of up to 240MB/sec with a variety of capacities.

The Exceria Pro is stated to reach speeds upwards of 260MB/s read and 240MB/s write and will be carried in capacities of 16GB and 32GB. With these speeds, Toshiba says that these cards to a consumer with a high-end camera with see enormous increases in the amount of information the card can transfer before the buffer. These cards are really meant for the burst mode photographer that might want this card for fast action sports or something that may require multiple shots quickly.

These speeds were all possible due to Toshiba’s newly developed controller that works with UHS-II which is the ultra high speed serial bus interface in SDs. Pricing for these cards are yet to be announced but we should expect these in October. Any photographers like me excited for this? Or SD cards not a big deal yet? Let us know with a comment down below!

I am excited but it is probably more than I would need. The only time I use burst mode is at air shows and I can’t remember the time yet that I was slowed by my SD. I’m sure that there are a great many people that are more demanding in their needs and there are many more that just need the fastest everything so I guess it has it’s market.

My droid DNA has “burst mode” and it works just fine for fast moving things with my experience. Dunno about professional cameras though. Not worth my money.

i have a Nikon D7100 and a sandisk extreme pro 95mb/s but the burst mode is limited by the camera memory to about 6 shots in raw. i dont see the advantage of such a fast sd card my one is a bit op

I have the Sandisk Extreme 95mb/s 64gb right now and it’s fantastic. It’s the fastest I could find when I bought my camera. If this is reasonably priced (maybe twice the price of a 95mb/s version) I plan to pick one up right away. Glad I saw this, thanks Elric :)
