Not All Monitors Are Created Equal

When someone sees a 24-inch display with a $500.00+ price tag, they usually take a step back in “initial shock”, as you can buy many 24-inch models for under $200.00 off the shelf.

So what makes this monitor so special? There are quite a few differences between the ASUS PA249Q and your run of the mill products and those features make it a definitive product for the artist or printer or cannot skimp on quality.

When it come to the type of panel used inside any monitor there is a class type starting with “A’’ as the best and declining in quality from there with things like burnt pixels or other defects in the panel. ASUS uses only the absolute best “A” grade panel’s in their ProArt series to start off with, which right off the bat means no defects and a perfect panel to build into a high-grade product.

There are literally thousand of different model monitors out there, but how many can make the claim that they actually have true color that matches CYMK and other standards that need the color on the screen to actually match the color you are trying to print? The ASUS PA249Q has a △E≦ 3 color accuracy rating and comes pre-calibrated to Adobe RGB standards and features a 16:10 aspect ratio with a 1920 x 1200 Resolution while the panel is a backlit AH-IPS that offers true, consistent color with 99% Adobe RGB, 100% sRGB, and 120% NTSC matching. If accuracy is your daily keyword in your business, that is when features such as these become not important, but imperative as well if you want happy returning clients. Reproducing the colors from photographs is tricky to get an exact match, but with the ASUS PA249Q the colors seen in photos will be reproduced faithfully and consistently in a way that cannot otherwise be on monitors with just an sRGB color space.

If you notice than many of the monitors currently on the market have a very limited viewing angle that looks out of phase or blurry if not looking directly at the screen and that stinks if you are trying to show your work to someone not directly behind your back. ASUS’s solution to that dilemma is addressed by way of the PA249Q utilizing an AH-IPS (Advanced High-Performance In-Plane Switching) display technology that results in superior color accuracy, a brighter image from increased backlight transmission and lower power consumption. Each PA249Q also features a brightness rated at 350cd/m² and an 80,000,000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio for enhanced image contrast. With that said regardless of where you stand the monitor still continues to maintain the same image quality as if you were sitting right in front of it making viewing for others as well as you a great experience with its 178 degree viewing angle.  Some of the other features of the panel are a .27mm Pixel Pitch, 350-cd/mi brightness, 6ms response time, ASUS’s (ASCR) Smart Contrast Ratio of 800000000:1.
