Maingear Now Offers AMD Options on Nomad 17 Gaming Laptop

If you have been a fan of Maingear and have always wanted a Nomad 17 gaming notebook, but are not a fan of Intel and are more comfortable with AMD now you have the option to get your laptop served up, just the way you like it. Fans of AMD will now have the option of getting Maingear’s popular Nomad 17 with their favorite platform on the inside, in this case AMD. You also get a few option choices as well so whether you want the absolute best or just good Maingear has a solution to fit your need and want. Plus with AMD being on the lower priced side of things an AMD system will also cost less at the checkout counter.

Maingear is now offering the Nomad 17 in four variations levels of configuration options henceforth known as “Good”. “Better”, “Best” and of course the UBER system “Ultra” for those who just want the best in class type product.  The AMD “Good” configuration starts out at $1298.99 and with that you get an AMD A10-5750 APU with Radeon HD 8970M graphics, 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 RAM, 500GB Seagate solid state hybrid drive, 8X DVD burner, GbE LAN, 802.11n Wi-Fi, 2MP webcam, and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit all wrapped in a Nomad 17 “Performance Chassis” with DynAudio sound and backlit keyboard.

    LAPtops with AMD hardware should be called TOP without LAP as you cant put an oven on your lap.

      I find that my AMD-based laptop runs a whole helluva lot cooler than my friends Intel/nVidia based ones. For example, under heavy load, theirs will be averaging around the 75c mark, or with the ultrabooks around the 85c mark, whereas my A10-based laptop averages around the 60c mark. None of them really get uncomfortable to hold in your lap, but the palmrest on the ultrabook becomes rather uncomfortable at best.
