SteelSeries Announces Rival Optical Gaming Mouse
Good Afternoon Techfans! Today SteelSeries has announced the newest addition to...
The Build
Trying to find a set of white video cards was a very slim market of choice, as really no one but Sapphire had any cards that matched our criteria right out of the box. On the back of the cards you can see Anthony used a blue see-through acrylic that really makes the cards look out of this world and match the TRON build them quite nicely.
White/Blue cables were used to also match the systems theme and were used throughout the build as seen in the pictures, which in truth do not do it justice as it looks nicer in person. We used a custom designed Swiftech cooling system including their pump, quick-release valves and CPU water block as Swiftech stuff just works ask around.
We changed the normal Swiftech color on the CPU block to a blue color to match the build and it looks good, unfortunately the only cooling parts we did not use for the cooling system was the reservoir, but all the radiators, tubing and other parts are all from Swiftech. We used cooling fluid from FESER that is colored blue to match the theme.
Using a blue reservoir with an internal light makes the inside of the case look really awesome and all of the lights in the system can be operated by a remote control you can wear on a keychain. Just stand back and click away and watch the various lights turn on and off. It’s magical.
All of the PSU and as much of the cables have been hidden behind Plexiglas parts that are actually just sitting snugly inside the case not parentally mounted, but still working perfectly. Through the clear side panel you can see the lights and the cards and the nice wiring job, but if you look real close into the window you can see the hidden WD 1TB Black storage drive, one of the 3 storage components of the TRON.
Storage capacity as well as speed of the drives is very important to good gaming or workstation PC and we tried to be able to get the best performance by combining drive types in the build. The OS, drivers and programs are being installed today so we should have some performance scores here shortly for those who care about that type of thing. There is actually a temperature gauge located inside the system that I think we may reposition to make it more visible.
We used 3 different types of storage drives on the TRON starting off with a Kingston mSATA 128GB for the boot, a 256GB SSD and a 1TB mechanical drive for storage and games. The SSD and 1TB drive are used together as one fast drive via the Intel controllers SRT or Smart Response Technology so everything will run nice and fast. The ASUS PZ77 Premium is a great motherboard that has an enormous amount of features that make it not only good-looking, but also very functional as well.
All the parts made of plastics all had to be cut and fitted before being put in the system and that was a very interesting part of the build and a bit of a challenge as well to get them cut right. Anthony had to end up buying an actual mini table saw to cut everything up properly, but at least we have it now for future builds as needed. With a great paint job, custom parts and time and dedication the TRON has finally seen the light of day and we are proud of the time and dedication put into the build and even though we almost lost the system in an accident it took a licking and keeps on ticking. We may make a few changes here and there as we continue using the system, but for right now we are pretty content with what we have achieved so far. Thanks for reading Tech Of Tomorrow, now I need to go do some software stuff and get the TRON totally up and running.
