According to DigiTimes, an unnamed Taiwan based supply chain maker is reporting that Google has an 8-inch tablet in the works. The 2nd generation Nexus 7 came out this past summer and with the release of Apple’s Retina iPad Mini, many expected Google to drop a Nexus 8 to compete but to this day, we’re still waiting.

The report states that this 8 inch tablet from Google is expected to drop in April of this year and is expected to ship 2 million units initially. Currently the LG G Pad 8.3 Play Edition is the closest thing to a Nexus 8 we have but the specs are a little dated and I for one would welcome an official Nexus 8 from Google with open arms.

Interestingly enough, the report also claims that this will be Google’s third generation tablet, possibly hinting that the company is making a shift from 7 to 8 inch tablets and may have no plans to update the Nexus 7 in 2014. Either way, there isn’t a ton of concrete evidence at this point but how would you feel if Google replaced the Nexus 7 with a Nexus 8? I personally prefer the 8 inch form factor but that may be just me. Let us know your thoughts below!

I might sound like an ass, but what is the use of the exponentially increasing hardware in mobile devices when the only damn games are… 10 year old GTA games athat many of us have already played, angry birds, flappy birds (a 20 year old pc can run that).

    We NEED GAMES!

I think the 8 inch tablet is the sweet spot. They also need to thin the top and bottom bezel. I found the Nexus 7 bezel too wide and took up valuable screen space.
