After a few early morning leaks, we can finally put the Galaxy S5 rumors to rest as Samsung has made it official.

The Galaxy S5 didn’t make the jump to a QHD display but instead opted for a slightly larger 5.1-inch display that boats a 1920 x 1080 resolution, so not a huge bump over the Galaxy S4.

It also features a faster 2.5GHz Quad-Core processor, 2GB of RAM, comes in either 16GB or 32GB storage options (expandable via MicroSD) and a 16-megapixel camera that features built in HDR and up to 4K 3840 x 2160 video recording.

The Galaxy S5 in addition to featuring an IR Blaster, Fingerprint reader and heart monitor is also IP67 water resistant, which allows the phone to be submerged in water at up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes.  That doesn’t mean you can go surfing with it but it is a handy feature if you were to ever accidentally drop your smartphone into some liquids.

The Galaxy S5 is set to be released in April of this year and comes in four different colors – black, white, blue and that hideous gold. Now that the Galaxy S5 is official, what are your thoughts?

    A bit disappointed really.

I’m sure there were way too many scaling issues with QHD but still, that would have put this phone over the top.

There are gonna be 2 versions of the Samsung Galaxy S5. On with a quadcore at 2.5Ghz and another version with a octocore at 2.1Ghz. Yet I do think it’s a good improvement if you look at S2 and S3. S4 vs S5 is a little different in my opinion.
