Samsung has unveiled their Quarter 4 earnings report for 2014 and, as we previously expected, the company’s operating profit has dipped a bit.

The Korean-based company reported an operating profit of 8.3 trillion WON (approximately 7.7 billion) from 59.28 billion won of revenue. This number betokens an 18% decrease of Q3 in 2013 and 6% compared to the fourth quarter of 2012.

However, Samsung says slowing smartphone sales are not the reason for this drop in profit. The company’s flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3, have been selling quite well. And, at CES, Samsung introduced fresh Galaxy “NotePro” tablets, the Galaxy NotePro 12.2 and Galaxy TabPro 12.2, featuring four-way Multi-Window and a revamped TouchWiz UI.

Following the announcement of their Q4 fiscal report, Samsung stated that they also have plans to launch new tablets with bigger displays coupled with phablets, according to ZDNet Korea. Hyunjoon Kim, Samsung’s executive director said that the company has ushered a new tablet subcategory: one with behemoth, high-res displays touting remarkable business capabilities. Kim also said that the company will create numerous tablet models around the Galaxy Tab family this year, tinkering them for different user’s needs.

Samsung looks to be sticking to their longtime business strategy: one that revolves around flooding the market with a conglomerate number of devices each meeting different needs of different users. As with their phablets, Samsung aims to provide “different display experiences” with improved S Pen and Multi-Window capabilities.

And if you’ve watched TV in the past two years, then you know Samsung loves spending money on advertisements. This year, Samsung will cut back a little bit. In a statement, Hyunjoon stated that the company will strive to “raise the efficiency of our marketing spend and lower our overall mobile marketing budget to revenue this year compared to last year.” Nonetheless, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a Super Bowl commercial this week.

Samsung is such a great company and they make so many different genre products that are very highly rated. I think that the physical appearance of the devices need to be tweaked more. The Note 3 is just a big S4 the only difference cosmetically is the size. I would like to see a slightly different design, but nonetheless the current design is pretty badass.
