Veteran Apple fan, Kurt Merki Jr., imagines a totally new Apple computer combining the features of the iMac, Mac Pro, and Apple Cinema Display. Dubbed “iPro”, the concept desktop would be geared for professionals that propose “epic proportions in all ways.”

The iPro would feature a razor-thin 8mm 35-inch OLED display with near-4K resolution at 3382×1964 pixels. The massive display would rest on a unibody base paired with an integrated sound bar with the potential of sporting two 2013 Mac Pros along with other common components, liked four extra SSDs, ventilation system, and a killer audio setup. Connectivity-wise, the iPro would feature four Thunderbolt ports and eight USB 3.0 ports.

A tilt button on the front would let a user move the display 20 degrees up and down for perfect viewing angles. On a design-front, the iPro is a bit reminiscent of Lenovo’s Yoga line of tablets. The iPro is pretty big, coming in at 800x600x150mm, with a 120mm diameter for the base.

Merki describes the iPro in this statement: “The iPro is made for professionals who need a lot of everything be it memory, workspace, or processing power. All components are cutting edge from the OLED display up to the integrated Mac Pro technology. Creating the right balance between performance and design. An ‘all-in-one’ enclosed solution that still has the capability of being flexible, enabling one to up or downgrade easily.”

To me, the iPro concept looks neat and polished, even if taking some pointers from Lenovo. But, what do you guys think? Let us know!

its….definitely interesting. The only issue is that its so different, that I feel Apple wouldnt try to sell something so radically different. Its like an iMac on steroids pretty much right? It also kind of looks like the Apple Trackpad standing upright with a screen or is that just me?

  • Milou

i would buy it if you could roll the screen up into the case

I don’t think Apple would design such ugly a** ventilation. But the concept is cool.

That small nob in the middle that is supposed to prevent the monitor to fall on its faceis a huge fail. The monitor won’t be stable at all, it will fall easily when tilted diagonally…

Why would they not just go full 4k? That part seems half arsed to me. This might cause issues when trying to view true 4k video, or edit videos that are in full 4k. If the monitor can’t run 60fps I wouldn’t bother with it ether, but we won’t know until it comes out more than likely. Other than those problems that it might have I think looks okay. I wouldn’t run out and get one if I had the cash. That’s just my preference though.

I always thought there should be a 16:9 res between 4k and 1440p and i always thought to do 3200 X 1800… twice as wide and twice as high as 1600x 900… it would have 4x the pixels just like 4k does to 1080p

search quad hd. or QHD. The res of QHD is 3200×1800

I don´t really think saving space on the screen makes sense.
He could have put a lot of hardware inside the screen,
Because It couldnt even be seen there.
The big tube on the bottom just isnt looking good.

I think a slightly thicker iMac with Mac Pro hardware is a much more viable solution.

  • jalebi Singh

fanboys made this.. 2x the specs of the mac pro and much, much thinner? yeah right.

  • mohammad

Apple wont go with Oled, Apple is the only company that doesnt sacrifice on anything over another improvement and since they dont change specs and designs much the next Imac may look like this since its the best for airflow and cooling with less noise of many fans but will DEF tilt back and front and may have a PLS display which is the best panel right now.

Looks like Lenovo Yoga 10.1 I smell a court case from Lenovo.

  • XKeralisX

I would definitely buy this… IF Though you can put another monitor with this.. Can’t stand using one monitor for code work…
