Maxwell Based NVIDIA GTX 750 Ti Coming in February?

The past two years of  NVIDIA based GPU releases have all been based on Kepler architecture, so with 2014 upon us it would lead one to wonder when the first Maxwell based card hit the market?

LegitReviews originally reported from a translated post from SweClockers who are claiming NVIDIA is launching a new GTX 750 Ti card in February that will allegedly running Maxwell internals and should debut with a sub $200 price point ($149-$169).

It is also rumored that the 750 Ti will be the guinea pig card of Maxwell in the sense that even though the platform will make the shift to the 20nm process for higher end cards later this year, the 750 Ti will be based on the current Keplar based process of 28nm to test the waters.

No other rumors or speculation on the card’s clock speeds or anything like that was mentioned, just that we should see the card launch on February 18th, 2014. Definitely keep your eyes peeled to the site as we’ll be updating any new information we have on this. Thanks for reading!

Seeing as the GTX 650 Ti Boosts have seemingly dried up… The successor to it comes along.. Cannot wait to see what the results will yield.

That will be really cool to see. I’ve been waiting for an nvidia card that can compete with the price of a 270/270x.

      the 760 does

I was thinking around $200 not $250 and up. Yes I know because of the coin mining the prices have shot way up but the pricing wasn’t up on those cards about a month ago (in my area). I went ahead and got a 660 ti because I was able to get it for less than $200. It’s not as good as the 760 but it was about $60 cheaper and performs about as good at 1080p. I’m currently not able to spend over $200 on parts so I had to draw the line somewhere.

Their naming scheme is starting to confuse me.

The name “Maxwell” is a codename that defines the architecture and chipset. This name usually comes from a geographical location around the facility researching the technology or someone’s name.

The numbers represent the organization of the cards based on performance and generation. The first number (The 7 in 750) indicates that this is the 7th generation of GTX cards. The number after that is the model number, the higher the number the higher performance the card. the 750 is a slightly less performing card compared to say the 780 which is the best performing single GPU in the 7 series (the 790 is actually two 780 chips in one card). The third number defines the subset. Sometimes you will see a 755 or something like that. This means that the GPU was slightly modified to better perform or use less power. Lastly, the letters at the end of the numbers define the group (for lack of a better term) they are in. For example: The 780ti is a better performing 780, and a 750m would be the mobile (laptop) version of the card.

      Hope this helps!

I love Nvidia cards but I’m really confused with the naming scheme as well

which part of it is confusing you, considering nvidia’s numbering scheme is very easy to distinguish? perhaps we can clarify for you.

        760 770 780 and now 750

        • Daniel Chong-Kazuki

From highest-end to lowest-end (follows a similar pattern like that):

          780Ti, 780, 770, 760, 750 etc.

Basically, the larger the number, the more powerful or higher-end the card is. If you see two identical models but one has the Ti in its name (780 and 780Ti), the 780Ti places higher than the standard 780.

Usually (most of the time), the higher-end card gets released first before the other less powerful models (780 will come first, and then the 770, then 760 etc.). Hope this helps.

if you’re confused about the names of the architectures (such as Fermi, Kepler, Maxwell etc.), don’t worry, many of us are still confused too.

Lets see what nvidia got this year.

I’m just hoping this coming out will result in price reductions for the current cards lol.

hm. im waiting for the replacement of the gtx 770/780 .

    great!!!!!!!!!!!!!
