NVIDIA has had quite the busy day today, first releasing their Maxwell based GTX 750 Ti video card and now quietly announcing it’s GTX Titan Black Edition.

There really isn’t anything overly exciting about this card, it’s still based off GK110 architecture like the standard Titan but his time it is fully enabled, unlocking all 15 SMX units for a total of 2,880 CUDA cores.

On paper the GTX Titan Black looks and should perform very similar to the GTX 780 Ti as far as gaming goes but the 6GB of RAM makes it more appealing to developers and those using it for workstation based tasks. It comes clocked at 889 MHz with a boost of 980 MHz, 384-bit memory interface, an effective memory speed of 7.0 GHz and a total TDP of 250W.

One interesting note though is that contrary to initial rumors and some leaked images, the Titan Black isn’t actually black. The housing still boasts the same silver design as the standard Titan but now only says Titan instead of GTX Titan and used black lettering to distinguish itself. This is set to retail for $999 and should be available very soon. What do you guys think of it’s release? Does the 6GB sound appealing to anyone? Let us know in the comments section below.

only for those who will buy 3/4 of them & run in sli to play in 4K or multi-monitor……….. 6 GB VRAM may be of use then

why would you buy 3 or 4, you dont need more than one gpu anymore. Nvidia knows this so their trying to advertise 4k as a gimmick to get 3-4 gpus, just buy a oculus rift for gaming you can max out any game with one good gpu its 1080p and retina. Yes 4k is good but a gimmick for gaming when you can use a 1080p retina VR.

i have told those who wants to play at 4k…………… obviously 1080p is enough……….. i haven’t experienced oculus rift yet , but don’t u think it’s still uneasy with a big box strapped around your head. let’s hope they make it smaller for gamer’s use

If you were considering a 780ti for 4k gaming DON’T!! it’s already been tested and the 3GB of GDDR5 are barely enough now let alone later down the line. A titan black for those Wanting 780ti speeds but wanting to use 4k, multi-monitor setups or gaming at 2560×1600 or higher may want this card as that 6GB of VRAM will go far.
