For anyone watching the SuperBowl yesterday know it wasn’t the most competitive or entertaining game but at the very least, we were treated with new footage of Felix Baumgartner’s 24+ mile free fall from Outer Space to Earth.

If you follow the channel, you’d know we’re huge fans of the GoPro series of cameras as we’ve used them to capture first person POV shots of computer builds because they allow you to mount the cameras in unorthodox places and still capture great video. What we’ve done with a GoPro pales in comparison to Mr. Baumgartner as he had multiple cameras mounted to him as he plummeted from Space.

We were able to see the fall back in October 2012 which was spectacular in itself but seeing it again through Felix’s perspective adds a whole new level of amazing to it. Watching him eclipse Mach 1 speeds and seeing it from his view is tremendously intense. He ultimately breaks 800+ miles per hour during is fall and there’s a portion where he loses control in a spin, claiming he’s near passing out. As he gains control, launches the parachute and lands safely, all we can do is tip our hat to the man for a truly amazing feat.

That was utterly amazing to watch, have seen it several times. To think that this will be a common “extreme sport” in the near future. How I would LOVE to do that.

And yes, GoPro cameras are also amazing. =P
