HP Enters the Chromebook Market with a 14 inch offering
In the Tech World rumors arise on a daily basis and trying to keep up takes a herculean effort on ones part not to fall behind by even a marginal factor, as now news is the news. After all the leaks surrounding the latest round of Google Chromebooks it seems they were all true after all as now Samsung, Lenovo and Acer have all released new models and now following in step we see HP releasing and introducing their new HP Pavilion Chromebook. The new Pavilion features a 14-inch view screen unlike the first generation that all had tiny 11.6 and 12-inch screens making it much easier to see right off the bat.
The Pavilion has a 1366X768 resolution a larger keyboard and all around has the feel of a standard laptop and this equates into a much more ergonomic user experience. Quite noticeable as well is the abundance of external connections allowing a host of devices to be able to connect to the Chromebook like dual USB 2.0 and a SD card slot so you can expand the minuscule 16GB of built in Solid State Storage. Beyond that spec wise the same 1.1 GHz Celeron CPU and 2GB of memory are the same as what is powering the competitions models as well. Having a sleek look and more power makes the next generation Chromebooks something to think about when considering inexpensive mobile devices. Recent surveys have shown the Chromebook to be an essential tool in the educational system due to their low price and portability.
Battery life is always something that has big expectations when taking about mobile is said to be about 4 hour and 15 minutes and this is rather piss poor when talking about a device that only surfs the web and runs a few web applications. In all candidness is not 4 hours just a bit too far under par for these next gen machines that should push the boundaries? Both Acers model and this one have about the same not so great battery life where the Samsung version has almost 7 hours of life. The price difference is so marginal between the models that for me the one with the longest battery life is going to be the highest consideration, I mean really when talking about how long you can be mobile should be a major buying factor. The new HP Pavilion Chromebook will hit the shelves at $329.99 at most retailers and does have some very nice features, but for a few bucks more you can get almost double the battery life. What do you think? Your opinions matter and we love to hear from you. Thanks for reading.
